Bought SL65 bumper cover, anybody have a list of part numbers I need to install......
Hi guys,

Bought a SL65 bumper cover on eBay over the weekend for $512 plus shipping for the SL55. Going to get it painted and installed but will need parts to finish. Anybody have a list of parts I'll need? Grilles, lights? Will the corner markers from my stock bumper fit?

Ill try to get some #s togather and send them. I hope youre ready to spend about $3000 on a lot of new parts.

Got your PM, responded to it. Not a problem spending the $ to do it but, I figure I'm already ~$800-1k ahead already based on what I got the bumper cover for.......

Funny you drive a 928. I had 928s for about 15 yrs. I consider this SL to be a super sophisticated, update of the 928. Same layout and mechanical design, same feel and ride.
Just a futuristic version.

I agree with your assessment of the SL. I just sold the 78 928 << to a collector in Germany. It has 1400 original miles so I never really drove it. I do however have a 1995 928 GTS with a 5-speed which is 1 of 77 brought to North America and one of 30 5-speeds in 1995. Awesome car!

BTW, back to the bumper cover. It turns out the one I bought is actually for the 07/08 SL55 with the Performance Package/SL65 cover.

I prefer the this cover to the earlier style and when I bought it I suspected it was the SL55 PP cover but didn't realize is was from the later cars and just figured that out. I'm still learning about these cars....

Not sure what you're asking for sure but there are two different styles of SL65 front bumper covers (both pictured above). One version on the early 230R SL65s and a different style on the 2007-08 230R SL65. The same applies to the SL55s with the Performance Package option. As for fit on regular 230R SLs I'm no expert there either but I'm pretty sure both styles fit. If I'm incorrect somebody please do tell.

all r230s can use any bumper.
only 09 new SL63.. have new front end.

that is what I was checking basically, I thought by the way you worded it, there was an sl65 style bumper that came on sl55's, but that is what I thought. sure wish it was cheaper to get into the 2009 style....

There is. The SL65 bumper cover also came on the SL55 with the Performance Package option. I just re-read what I wrote and perhaps I wasn't clear.
