WTB drag radials for Sl55
Hi I am looking to purchase Drag Radials for my SL55.
I need some info about the DR's.
Can anyone recommend which brand, size and wheels
what do you think about useing stock wheels? or Is it better to buy the wheels and tires as a set.

Most folks use DOT legal drag radials instead of a true drag slick, in part because you can drive to the track on a DOT legal tire whereas drag slicks require the car to be trailered or accompanied by a chase car that brings the drag slicks to the track.
Consensus seems to be that Hoosier and Mickey Thomson are the best performing brands among DOT drag radials.
AMG wheels are really, really heavy. You'll achieve better results if you use a set of lightweight wheels.
In terms of wheel size, a 16" wheel will provide the most sidewall flex but tire widths are limited in that size. There are more width options for 17" and 18" wheels but you give up some sidewall flex.
CCW is one of the few sources that can provide you with a 16" inch wheel that will clear the AMG rear brakes on an SL55. There are more options for 17" and 18" wheels.
It turns out that I'm selling my SL55 drag wheels and tires here: https://mbworld.org/forums/wheels-ti...mg-brakes.html
If you are interested, feel free to drop me a PM.
