Thanx to the golden boy.
The car is still not in ATL. and is still with Speedriven. I dont really have any exciting news to report other than to say the torque limiter(s) have proved to be a major challenge.

I got quite a few PMs n emails and so here are some updates on where we are with this. Hopefully I'll have some new and final dyno numbers for all to see.
Also MB magazine (Star) will have an article about this in the next issue. I'll post when I know the release date. Another mag. that all of u know, will have a nice write up later in the year (Thats what I'm told).
Back in March we had about 21 psi boost. 2 weeks go the car was at 24 psi it was good at wot. But it did not like part throttle. It also had some hiccups with the electronic torque limiters. Anything more than about 60% and it wants to go full boost and the ecu has a nervous break-down. We debated going with a two-stage electronic boost controller but would prefer to use oem controls. Its safer if the ecu has full control because it can shut boost down in the event of knock or any other malfunction. Basically we want to keep as many of the oem checks and balances in place to minimize the chances of catastrophic failure.
As of a few days ago, all the part throttle hurdles have been tackled. Now boost is linear and controllable. Its not just on or off. It will hold low boost at part throttle without spiking and limping out. The torque limit issues have also been solved. The car sustains 26psi without load limit codes. But at top rpm sets fault code for map sensor. As I understand it, the two maps must show the same readings within .3pi and they are doing just that but the high boost might be triggering out-of-range voltages even though those MAPs can handle 29/30 psi but again we are only hypothesizing at this point. God knows how amazingly complex the engine management software is on these cars. It truly is a wasps nest. Even with the best care, you still will get a few stings.

I missed this update, Great news man. It seems your car is already done. What a beast. Do you have any plans of at least taking her down the 1/4 mile strip? At least do it for us measly 1/4 lovers..., I am sure she is a monster man. Enjoy in good health and I hope to see you guys in the Texas Mile this year. When ever you can please PM me where you guys made reservations to stay. thx

Keep a sharp eye out starting mid August when the registrations open for the Texas Mile. They fill up in 1 week or less. I submitted all the needed documentation to get the 5-point harness and other safety equipment to be approved for the over 190 mph class. It will be 2 months before I know for sure. I also have to buy a hire fire-rated suite. The one I have will not do (SFI 3.2/1 vs 3.2/5).

I, for one, hopes this monster never sees the 1/4 mile. No chance of me owning the top spot, with this thing on the loose.
By the way, my wheel guy contact you yet?

I have a question. Can this Big turbochargers conversion be enjoyable on the road ?
I know that car is entended to do drag races mainly.
Is it made only for races ?
I mean an experienced driver, who lives in a place with decent roads and long straight lines.
Or is it a Drag only monster, far too powerful to be used on road, almost undrivable due to excessive torque.
Another question, will this conversion create turbo lag, because of Longer manifolds + Bigger turbochargers .

Yes from what I hear. I have not driven the car except for a total of 2 minutes in the last 8 months.
I know that car is entended to do drag races mainly.
Not correct. Never was built for drag nor am I into drag racing.
Is it made only for races ?
The exact opposite. Thats what makes this project so difficult. Building a one dimensional purpose built car is not what we went after. My wife can drive this to dinner with her girlfriends.

The cars rear brake system will not allow for drag tires and again, its not what I want.

No

Sorry Soulsearcher, It seems there is a vocabulary problem.(i'm not american)
By drag races I mean Things like the Texas mile, that kind of things.
You build that car to perform those kind of events isn't it ?

I see what you mean.
Anyway, I honestly just like max horsepower in cars that I can go dinner with. The events are nothing more than a legal way to enjoy the limits of these cars.

I have not updated for a while but have gotten quite a few PMs asking so here is the scoop.
The car is still being worked on. The main challenge has been the hornets nest....oops excuse me, I meant the engine management software. A lot of time has been spent on this area. As you recall we tapped out at 20 psi or so at the Texas Mile posting 198mph.
The map sensor has also been a lot of trouble anytime we dial boost over 20/21 but I think we have found a solution to that.
The latest dyno was 748 whp but the temps were 100+ degrees so I am not sure how much power was robbed but I doubt more than 30-50 (Just guessing)
We think the ecu is messing with the TB at this point because we have been able to dial up boost to 25psi with all the software and map sensor changes and should be around 840-870 whp (1100 hp crank) but obviously thats not what we have.
Will be data logging and back to the drawing board.
Whats sad is I got a evom 996tt to play with that already had plenty of mods and pushing 580 whp but I just couldn’t leave it alone and that car has been m.i.a. for weeks getting "more stuff"...i.e., bigger turbos, etc...
I hope all of you who, every year talk about finally going to the Texas Mile, are aware that registration opens Aug 15th. Don’t wait because it may close days after it opens due to the massive interest. They only register 200 cars or so and that’s not a lot of cars when the whole country has been waiting to register.

Your worst nightmare...
Thanks for the update. You guys are almost there.
It takes a lot to be without your car for such a long time, but in the end it is worth it. I hope I could make the Texas Mile, I am affraid of registering If I don't know where I stand yet. Hopefully we will all make it there and will be able to put a name with a face.
So is it safe to say you are seeing north of 25 PSI as of now??

For the kind of time and money invested in theis project, seeing north of 800 or more is probably where soulseracher wants to find his soul...yes 748 is a lot, but this car is being built for stadning mile, so a lot is what it takes and the rest of the field will be packing that same level of power. Top speed runs are non-linear in terms of power reqs. You need a significant poer increase to go from say 180 to 200 mph - much more than you would need to get to say 160 from a standing start.
Best of luck Soulsearcher...keep us posted and keep your eyes on the prize ...you will get there my friend!!

OMG!!
BUMP!! For the best thread I have ever read in my entire life!! When I did the ECU/TCU Marcin humbly mentioned a "built" motor project and the possibiity of a turbo upgrade for my 600...
@Soulsearcher...I will see you and Marcin there. Guys, thanks for paving the road to Rome!
Edit to say spots on mile are filled and I will be a cheerleader
Chalk it up to a month tour of europe and a week in Vegas...

Well its time again for the Texas Mile (Oct 22-24). This time it filled up within 24 hours. I do know that Marcin, Outcast and Marko will be there.
I am still going back and forth with the T/M folks about qualifying for the over 190 class so we dont get kicked out. It seems the harness anchors points are the big question mark but hopefully we'll resolve it.
I think we got all the bugs out this time and added a "few horses". We did leave a bunch on the table for now. Its been over a year since my car has been gone and I look forward to having it back in a couple of weeks.
We still have the 12 piston/16in rotors on the front but left the back brakes as is so i can try my luck at the drag strip with my 18in M/Ts before sticking on the bigger rear calipers and 15 in rotors.
Since getting the "ok" for the 200 mph+ is not in the bag yet, I did sign up for the October 10th Miami Mile but obviously the temps will be less than ideal vs Texas, which will be in the 60s in the mornings.
If others are going, let me know. We always stay at the Holiday Inn Express. Our trailer is the bright red one, with the bright yellow cones around it and the beautiful models in the bright small bikinis that say "SPEEDRIVEN".
....Well subtract the last part.

We will see you there getting the car in a few weeks as well. Are you getting there on Thursday? I should be there mid Thursday evening if things go right. Give me a ring when you can.

Soulsearcher, hope you get things worked out with TM. I was the guy walking around and you showed me your official/unofficial time slip. Is the person that was with you that gave me a card and did your ECU tune, will he be there? I would like to talk with him and possibly have him do a tune for me.
And I will be there again. What a blast. I may actually be going for all 3 days. Guys, if you have never been, I can tell you that you will not see as many extreme powerful exotic muscle cars ANYWHERE!
