SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: V12 Engine Out (feast your eyes)
However because of the low offset on my current wheels, I was not able to fit the upgraded rear brakes. I have no plans to use spacers to push the wheel outside the fender edge.
I may later in the summer make a trip to the drag strip.
Additionally most of you drag pros should easily be able to project what this car will do with a tight launch. You have all the data you need. The car ran 120 with about 650hp (give or take) @ 11.9 with a bad driver (me). Marco ran 10.7x/low 130s with 850hp. I figure with 1100+hp it will be about 141 and if the launch sticks, then maybe 9.9
The car is getting "more"....stay tuned.

I demand to hear that V12 rig now
that Marcin has completed a masterpiece
Rick u crack me up....plebeians...

I dont even have the car. Its back at the spa, getting "massaged"... again....so much so that the genius behind this evil leviathan keeps counseling me on the vertues of restraint and to take it EZ for now.
The texas mile was but a prelude and not the final story
. Working towards something else !!I will tell you that my big concern was the car sounding like a redneck (I'm cool with rednecks...my wife is part redneck) in a '79 nova with rust holes in the muffler (we all remember those high school days) however that is not the case. Very subdued at cruising but when u squeeze it.....well...in the words of one my office managers..."sweet baby jesus" (no pun intended). First time i heard marcin fire it up, Sat. morning to back it out of the trailer....my comment was..."yeaaaah baby"...as cheesy as that sounds.

I think you should change your handle to "Evil Leviathan" it's much more suiting...
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Looks like I should be getting it back soon. Texas was just part of "tuning" the car.
Still working on getting those vids up. Plus the guy that filmed them had no concept of "short". They are 15-20 megs each, so they have to be edited. This friend has them and he's still out of town.
I finally got the missing parts and got the hi-res 4-camera in-car system running. Looks great on a 4-way split screen. Films at up 120fps! I have not tested the high speed camera suction mounts that go on the outside.
Since I could not find what I was looking for, I had STTsafety make a 5 point SFI/FIA (Now I have 5 years rather then 2...for those who know what I'm talking about) harness with snap-in hooks so I can take it out when not needed. I certainly was not going to drive an SL around with a race harness. The eye bolts are being installed so as to be inconspicuous. In July I will start the process for getting the "integrated" roll-cage and flip-up OE roll bar approved as a full cage so as to be teched for 190+ in October.
Below is the reason (Pnaumatic pump connector) my trunk, keyless start, keyless entry AND convertible top would not work intermittently and why my consumer batt. would die after a week of sitting

Tires!
I am told by SpeedDriven that my tires will not even start hooking up until past 80mph (I like that problem).
I've had 3 sets of Falken 452s. (Yes I know they are not great). Because my tires last only 4000 miles (sits very low-serious neg.camber & track days-not drag). Flakens are just cheap (305/25+255/30R20--I wont change to 19's).
I researched tire options yesteday since now I have no choice and came up these three;Advans, PS2,Invo. I passed on Sport Maxx for good reason.
Noise, comfort, or wet traction are not of importance. Obviously those tires were picked, in part because of the very low Treadwear-UTQG (Yes---LOW).
I may go up to 315/25R20 (Yes they fit), which will still be within 0.8% of OE O/D.
I realize everyone has an opinion on tires but without compartive tests on the SAME size I am looking at (Yes I am aware of several car mag. tire tests and they do not apply here---long story) the only objective number I can use is the Treadwear UTQG and some unpulished tech data that my friends at Goodyear shared.(My past life was with Goodyear Racing Division).
Michelin Cups are sticky as they get but a set installed will run 3000 bucks and last about 1000 mi on my car. Drag radials on street driving would not be smart, since the sidewall is designed with less support. That wraps up my tire options in my size.

Car is going back together right now. Alot of interior has been removed, seats, carpet, side panels, rear panels, etc. Reinforcement brackets/plates have been made for 5pt. harness anchors. We made them comply to the NHRA rule book for seat harness safety requirements. Which meant welding up some reinforecements.
Software changes have also been made, once interior is done of to dyno.

The torque limiter has been set to max, which is around 1000 foot pounds but that is not enough with 25/26 boost. The goal is to remove the limiter completely so we dont have to go back 20 boost.
5 point racing harness has been descretly installed to allow for quick removal when on the street.
You guesses it, WOT figued it should just hook and go. But no right around 84-85mph she decides she wants to go drifting Tanner Foust style, Blazing the tires. I'm talking full on burn out of the rev limiter, not I think it spun cause the triangle flashed once or twice.
So when I get the tq limiters to behave like we want them to. 26psi might make Mikey Thompsons mandatory.

Removable, seamless and tasteful, thanks to some "creative" engineering.
Yes, I know the sub belt is not the perfect angle but we're not about to install a race seat in an SL. Keep in mind why we did it. (Hint: Ain't by choice !)
