Loudest Possible Exhaust on an SL55 ///AMG?

Hey guys went for a drive with a couple of guys with an R8 with a custom exhaust, Maser GTS and some others... and frankly my exhaust sounded really bad and too airy.. you could hear the R8 or GTS from a mile but no 55.. so looking for a really loud exhaust to improve the sound.. any suggestions.. preferably with an option to switch on the extra sound during spirited driving..

Hi, I don't know but I have heard other members say, take the resonators
off. I don't know whether it will be loud enough, but I thought I would help, other members are too busy trying to work out boost figures to answer you.

Start with the resonator then cats then headers then front cats. Front cats will throw a CEL though and you would need new ECU software.

Isn't it painful for your ears when you drive top down ?? I had a friend who had a Supersprint exhaust on a 325i E30 convertible. After a one hour ride top down, I thought my ears were gonna bleed.

I think that this sounds great, a lot of people on the forum said it would be too loud, I however would not mind this at all, and the car would sound mean.

Eisenmann Race Exhaust. Very loud. Drone inside. No comfort. But if you like that, you will love it..

Here is a link to my SL55 with secondaries removed. I am running shorty headers too. If you crank the volume, it is fairly repesentative of the sound, but not quite as loud as in reality. I'm thinking you will want more than just a secondary delete.

Just got my resonators replaced with 3" pipes. It's a little louder and deeper than OEM but not too loud. I want to take off the 2nd cat but worry about the CEL. Muffler might be a good choice to take off now.

The SL55 is one of the best sounding 55's

let some one drive and run past u.....then u will understand

once u start messing with exhuset...it gets too loud, drone, possible power loss/ cel etc

my adivce would be, keep stock exhust system and just do headers and possible primery cat delete

leave all the rest (2nd cats and res)

actuly if not sure, SL might have just one set of cats. If hats the case u can go race cats

it will be mor ethen loud

There are 2 sets of cats. The secondary’s can go with no problem. CELs to deal with on the primary delete. SC engines don't need the same backpressure as NA engines; in fact they like reduced restriction.

I found the secondary cat del to create only minor change. Same great sound just a bit more especially under WOT.

Could not agree more that the SL55 sounds sweet while driving past you. My victims tell me that all of the time.
