Yeah I suppose, but it's still fun. Yeah I spoke to Leo too, he said there was a mistake on his behalf. It is 40k.

It's not a fake, it's just new skin, and if you have an SL600 with Stage 1&2 Renntech mods...it's damn close...As long as you don't pose it as a OEM black series..it is what it is...no car is worth what you pay for it when you pay for it 1 hour later so why should mods be any different.

I agree with you on one matter...I wouldn't buy a used SL just to put this kit on ...I will do it because I already have one...the only problem with these pics are that something looks strange about the side view on the street...when I look at it vs OEM BS...the back looks way too long and it doesn't sit as aggressively...maybe it's the wheels or the shorter rake of the SL500/600 roof line do to convertible rather then fixed roof.

Any thoughts?

No its a fake trust me. If you go to a meet and someone screams out O MY G-D its a BLACK SERIES!!! Your going to turn all red and say...what exactly?

I think the kit looks great in the video, the car needs to be lowered in my opinion. I would like to know what materials they use and what modifications need to be done to hang the parts.

Fake is taking a Fiero and turning it into a Ferrari look a like. If you don't pretend it to be, i.e. badging and lying then it's not...IMHO...Hell just as long as it looks sick is all I care about.

Its his car in the end... his choice.. The only thing i would say is the front suspension sits kind of high, drop it a bit and some new wheels well be good

Yeah I was thinking of that as well about lowering the front and I bet that would do the job. I got money to burn. Well If I had more I would do the BS but this will do.

I would want to know what the kit consists of. I would be absolutely sick if I spent 40k on that and the fiberglass starts to spider or it starts to sag, or is made of 90% plastic filler.

So after speaking with Mario from Sarona and visiting there place. I finally decided and dropped off my Sl500.

I haven't decided which wheels I will go with yet, however I know for sure I won't pick those wheels they did. The other thing I am ordering is the lowering kit this way it doesn't look so high up and also order my new tail lights.

Here are some pictures on my starting project.

Yeah, I will be taking a lot of pictures to give the details. I saw there parts already I didn't take pictures of it. But They are solid parts. Also I got to give it to them, It's a serious operation at their location. It's not just some random shop thats for sure.

It's a rainy day and a regular Monday, but coming thru to check on my car just made it shine. They are working hard I tell you. The car looks pretty much done. So excited it's almost done. Can't believe my new front. How clean it looks. Loving the new face lift.

Jeeeeezzzusss they did all that work in (4) days??? Kudos to that outfit, certainly not wasting time...

I have to ask though, why do this to the SL500? In the end you'll indeed be a poser w/ALL show n NO go? I can see the draw to do this w/regular SL65/SL600/SL55 as they can be further modded to equal or more HP than a real Black Series, but a 500??

It will indeed be akin to the Fiero and turning it into a Ferrari w/fake body, I just don't get that part, I'd be mortified to drive around in reg SL500 tarted up to look identical to $300k performance masterpiece, it's your money in the end enjoy...

It just seems you must be obsessed w/impressing other people to think you're very wealthy, there is NO other viable reason to do such a thing to the BASE model as this upgrade is SOLELY to exterior & will not change the slow SL500 into SL65 BS except to the uniformed public who will gush "Ohh wow nice Black Series! I bet that thing is FAST"

What will you say then?

Wait so this kit is 40k DOLLARS? Only if my friend had his hands on a SL Black series. All it would take is to make some molds off the panels, and have it replicated. He's been working with fiberglass/carbon for about 15 years now, and this kit would be worth around 10-15 grand MAX if he made it. Not a cheap kit either.

the kit is looking pretty decent to me, still not sure if 40k is anywhere near realistic, but I am guessing the headlights are worth a fortune, and that appears to be carbon on the back bumper, which would also be a bit of an expense, always good to see progress on a vehicle though. I feel horrible for the people on here that invest several 10s of thousands on a project or build and get hosed in the end.

Yes I agree with you guys on the fact it's not sl55 or sl65 non the less it's a sl500. But I own a SL55 with a lorinser kit on it already. But for my purposes on the replica car, is to just show it off here at my restaurant in the city. No go, just hard parking. I don't go to meets either so to say what am I going to say I'll just be honest when that day comes. I guess I could have swapped over the sl55 to the black series kit conversion, but I use my 55 pretty much all the time and was expecting the 500 to be in the shop a lot longer.

I would like to know what materials they use and what modifications need to be done to hang the parts. Can you give us some insight mario?

What color are you going to finish it off in?

They are using Carbon Fiber Kevlar and I see Fiberglass as well.
So I decided to go with some Work wheels and it's about 10 weeks before I get it. So Yay. I'm going by the shop tomorrow to get some more shots.

are they going to use a stock inner fender to fill the gap in the back or do they have some other solution?

and it is looking great for as short a time as they have had it.
