So my parents go on a 1000 mile road trip for their 37th anniversary and when they were almost back to PHX (60 miles away) he said the car lost power and it was pry around 40% or 50% power and a CEL came on. So he drove to a auto zone to get some tools to pull the air filters off since they drive through a couple sand storms , hail storm , rain storm and a little but of snow. So he figured maybe some thing clogged up the intake. He pulled them off and found nothing so he put the intakes back on, started the car and it drove fine but had the CEL still on . Anyone ever had this happen to them? Anyone know what it is? He will be going to the dealer on monday but just wondering if this is a common problem? Thanks

Yes it happens, especially on the V12s. It is typically fuel/fuel system related.

what's the code?
If you borrow a code reader from Autozone or another similar shop, that will tell you the diagnostic trouble code that is causing the check engine light.
