Question for 2003 SL55 owners
I'm looking at buying a 2003 SL55 AMG with 48k miles. I would appreciate any good or bad feedback from current 2003 owners. Thanks in advance.

if the car looks clean, no accidents.. go for it, just make sure to buy a warranty. Do not want to own it out of warranty.. also how much is the seller asking? Have you agreed on a price.. what is color, options, any mods?

Awesome car, but can be costly with repairs. A warranty is a must for this vehicle. The average public thinks my 03 is much much newer and it still turns heads. Only the persnickety folks on this forurm know different.

What benzo said and shop around until you find exactly what you want. These cars are not cheap to maintain but thats relative. Make sure the car comes with a history of maintenance. Here is something you should look at..good luck...Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG Problems......http://repairpal.com/cars/mercedes-benz/sl55+amg

Sorry, I see you do have a warranty. Is this on the SL55 ? I am wanting to do theses mods and keep the warranty. Just wondering if you knew something I didn't...how do you get that done ?

Warranty is definitely the right thing to do for the peace of mind, however, contrary to popular belief on this forum, these cars come as solid as you can imagine. If you buy one used from someone who appreciates this machine you should not have many problems aside from basic maintenance even when it clocks at 100k. On the other hand if you buy one that has been neglected, you may be in for a rude awakening, especially if you get it cheap. Take your time, do the research and pick a gem, it will be well worth the wait.

The warranty is on my ML. It is bone stock, the wife won't let me touch it.
