DIY: Removing side wood trim from door panels (R230)
Hey,
After a while searching on the forum for removing the side wood trim, I went and did it myself. I took some photos along the way, and after a while working on one side, the other side was a piece of cake when I already knew how to do it. I found it way easier with the windows down not too damage anything.
STEP 1 - Remove the inner silver/brushed trim from the door. There should be 6 screws holding this piece in place. One at the very top and one at the very bottom, so make sure you get them all.

STEP 2 - Remove the little plastic SRS AIRBAG sign from the door. this comes off very easily. Twist it to the left as if unscrewing it and pull to get it out. When this is done remove the screw that is inside. Dont worry about it falling in there is nowhere for the screw to go.

STEP 3 - Pull of the little triangle piece on the very top corner on the other side of the mirror. Simply pry it from the top and pull up on it.
STEP 4 - Start prying the clips off on the entire door panel. Start with the lower outer side and move your way accross the door to the speaker. Do the same on the side when you pull the bottom.

STEP 5 - Now stand close to the panel and grab wide from the bottom of the panel and force/lift it up until it pops off. (MAKE SURE YOU pulled all the clips or you will end up braking a few)

STEP 6 - There are a few little clips holding the wooden trim in place. Once you have the panel off you will see which ones, they are all the same. To take these off you will need a flat head screwdriver and simply put it on one side of the clip and twist as if you are unscrewing it, they should very easily come off. I tried pulling these off and damaged a few while doing so so the right way to do it is with a screwdriver.
THIS PICTURE IS TAKEN AFTER THEY ALREADY ARE PULLED OFF BUT IT IS THE SAME WAY TO REMOVE THEM WHEN THEY ARE STILL ON THE DOOR PANELS.
