I am mostly bummed because it says 59% of the SL drivers are women!

Because:

1. I don't think it's a chick car
2. I am still waiting to see a smokin' hot chick driving one!

Maybe I should move to South Beach or L.A. (of course when you combine it with the fact that the avg. age driver is 53, that may explain part of it...)

Wow, totally weird accumulation of data. The #2 car is a Toyota Camry which is about as vanilla as a car can be. I guess people incorrectly assume that a nondescript car means you can run red lights and speed.

The #5 car is a Scion xB which I KNOW wasn't ticketed for speeding. It's way too slow for that. Must've been running red lights and flipping off cops.

Not exactly. The statistic says that 59% of the SL drivers who get ticketed are women.

For what its worth....

I wonder if the data collection folks at Forbes know the difference between an SL and SLK. Although I rarely see SLs here in Indy, I have never seen a female driving one. I more frequently see SLKs and they are almost always driven by women. When I do see a women driving an SL, she most certainly will be speeding and will be an extremely hot 53 year old.

excellent point...

I've had girls mistaken my car saying something like "oh yeah I have that...SL " then they have an SLK and think it's the same car lol

Since I got the SL63, I have 1 exhibition of speed, 2 speeding, and been let off with a warning. all this in less than 7 months of ownership. I dont knw if im becoming an a-hole, or they are picking on me. Maybe a little of both.

I have been abusing roads in all kinds of exotica for a very long time, and the only time I get to met my 'personal banker' in blue is when I am in some nondescript rental.

Never got a ticket in a Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini or the SL55 for that matter.

Do you have to smoke the tires for exhibition or just a quick burst of WOT? I got a seriously stern look from a local cop the other day after I lit up the tires. Problem was, the cop didn't know if it was me or the vette in the lane next to me who was minding his own business.

that's the thing about the SL...most law enforcement don't see it as a sports car, it's considered a roadster...and if driven docile it keeps to that stigma just fine...these guys don't know the difference in the engine trim lines let alone b/w the SL and SLK most of them I bet...

yeah, whenever I get to talking cars with clients and tell them I have an sl600 they look at me like I told them in Chinese or something. I have started just saying a v12 convertible benz, much easier this way.

I don't undestand. Every time I drive be it in the SL. the Cobra or a supercharged Vette. the cars that are allways going the fastest and passing everyone are Hondas. Hondas must be the fastest cars?

i must say i agree with most of the posters
out of all my cars through the years (im just 24 but had approx. 10 cars; not simultaneously) i think that the sl got the least tickets.
but then again it makes sense cause i have 20's and live in brooklyn, so unless i want to get rims every 13 mins or so, i have to drive speed limit
...also it might be that i grew up from the ***** out, switching lanes while traveling twice the speed limit teen days

Nice! It sounds like the cops where you live are "car guys". A lot of the car-loving cops tend to let people drive their cars the way they are meant to be driven. If they are nice cars that is.

I can attest to the SL being a ticket magnet. I get 80% of my tickets when I drive the SL, all for speeding. Mind you, speeding tickets where I live is mostly an automated matter: Cop installs speed camera and snores until his shift is up. I tend to overlook one from time to time.

And unfortunately radar detectors and laser shields are illegal...

Netherlands. You are right to stay away w.r.t. driving fun. This must be the worst country in the world to own a car.

Although I find they have been taking the fun out of driving throughout the whole of Europe in the last decade
