SL65 baseline run

With a working I/C pump, the results were much better. This is a 2005 and stock other than the Meziere pump. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus (complete with 500 treadwear rating), air pressure was 35psi cold. Floor mats, and everything else were still in the car so I could determine how it runs like it is normally driven. 3/4 tank of gas.

Burnouts were just a mash of the gas, letting the car spin moving forward to the staging lights - in other words it was a short one. I tried some longer ones but they resulted in 2.0 or worse 60' times with these tires and the pressure they were at.

I did not get a time slip for the very first run, which I made coming straight from the trip getting to the track, teching, and then going to the staging lanes and making a pass. Best run was my second run after about a 15 minute cool down, letting the I/C pump run with the hood open, engine off (I have it wired to run with the key on).

1.887 60'
7.77@97.1 1/8 mile
11.89@119.67 1/4 mile

I had also tried running the pump all the time in the staging lanes as we moved through the line, but saw no difference between that and not running the pump. I did see one difference when I just let the car idle while it was in line when I was 5 cars deep in the staging lanes from running and that seemed to help, but traction was pretty much gone and I wasn't able to run better than mid 1.9 60' times. However, that seemed to make the best power by mph, but was my last run.
1.967 60'
7.815@97.45 1/8
11.92@119.97 1/4

The track was in the 50s for temp, but humidity was rising as soon as the sun went down. I don't think the track was prepped very well; I've been going there for many years, and I can safely say if anything was sprayed down with VHT, we used that up in the first hour.

Jerry from Eurocharged was out there, baiting me to try one of his tunes (I have his tune on my Cayenne ). But for now I'm happy to leave it alone. I think with drag radials it would be an easy 0.3 sec drop in the 1/4 mile. Cheap wheels anyone?

Fixed.
Does anyone know if a 18" wheel will fit the rear of the 65? I've searched, but didn't find anything specific to that. There just seems to be more choices for a drag tire in that size.

18's will clear the caliper, aka the part that would rub first.

Look in your manual for the correct offset as I am not familiar with your toy. And PLEASE do not use spacers. Buy the right wheel in the first place, IMHO.

Yeah, I'm not a big spacer fan. That's good news, I should be able to get a couple of used wheels off another Merc for drag duty down the road. I didn't exactly buy the car to drag race, but I've been doing it for a long time with just about everything else I've owned.

Nice runs! Sub-12s on all season tires!!

Yeah, with drag radials or a good set of summer tires on a light wheel you should be able to reduce your 60' time to 1.6x or 1.7x which should knock 0.3 seconds to 0.4 seconds off your ET.

Nice runs bud!! You can run solid 11.50s in the near future with a pair of drag radials, a proper cool down, healthy burnout, and a good esp off launch on a similar day.

I'm hoping to run mid 11s in a SL65 with drag radials.
