The car is producing 640hp right now. Concentrating on cooling the car, 55 S/C's produce lots of heat, and it gets pretty hot over here in the summer.
So far, have a project planned aiming for +700hp, complete new suspension (sick of the stupid hydrolic system MB has) Lots of weight loss (CF everything), TCU tuning and etc...
Its going to be a slow project, but ive got high hopes for this one.
After taking the SL to the F1 track here, NEVER again will i take it on a track unless i get my suspension changed. Im really happy with my evosport brakes, MUCH better than AMG rotors.
Anyone else here went through a bad experience on the track in their SL?
What Exactly didn't you like on the track with the ABC system ? Originally Posted by SL55K

For sure, The SL55 is an Heavy car, not really suited for track use.
Another question : Did you just change the rotors or the calipers also ?

Yup, not a huge fan of the ABC system AMG has.Originally Posted by DCMETRO22Z

I already had a huge problem almost a year ago, complete ABC system failure.
The car just dropped.
Basically what i want is that the car to be more sharper.
Btw, i did take the SL to the track with bad tires, i know thats one reason for the handling issues.
I've contacted Tien supension, just waiting for them to reply.
Just changed the rotars, direct fit on the standard AMG calipers.
So finally, had the car dropped to the floor and the rear fenders pulled out by an inch on each side
Car was dropped to 40mm for this quick shoot, absolutely love the stance of the car now, love how the rear wheels are in line with the rear.
Notice the height/stance of the SL in comparison with the LP640
Hope you all enjoy the pics and like whats been done to the car
Im going for an extreme diet on the car, my aim is to lose 350 kilos (the vert will stay, and the interior will remain untouched)

Two random shots of the engine bay

Just stumbled across this thread. That is as beautiful an SL as I have ever seen. What an awesome job of personalizing and customizing the car. Reminds me of why I fell in love with the R230 in the first place - also inspires me to invest a little more in my baby!

Hey,
The car and stance look great! I am curious about the procedure for "pulling out the rear fender by an inch"..
Can you explain how / what was done to achieve that? Are they the original parts or were they replaced with new parts?
Thanks!

Thanks mate, worked hard on this car. Personalizing is actually a hobby, as you can see I changed the LP640 too as well in one of the pics. Had some body parts painted and added a Hamann spoiler on the back.Originally Posted by PDC

But you must be warned, investing in the SL55 is a disease, once you start you never finish. After all what I've done to the car, I thought i was done. Hit the power that I always wanted (almost 700hp crank). Interior was a one-off and so was the exterior .. well sadly (to my wallet that is) I've decided to go on a full fiber diet (aiming to lose around 300 kilos) off the car. Lets see how that goes

Well I attached a picture to explain, they heated the side fenders and then stretched them out (since the sides are made from steal, there was a limit where I could extend the rears). It was a small touch, but a touch that completely changed the stance of the car.

Damn, you hooked that thing up.. Looks sick
Looks alot better than the original pics. The rear fender pull and drop put that nice touch on it. The wheels were originally sticking out too far pas the rear fender IMO. Great job.

The worlds first Weistec Supercharger has reached, a very special thank you to Ejaz (0-60 Motorsports) and the boys from Weistec for making me the first customer to receive the 3.0 Supercharger
Now let the pics do the talking
Final goodbye to the AMG supercharger and "most" of the Kleemann parts. They've done me well in the past 6 years

My WEISTEC goodies

The beast

Removing the stock Supercharger

Ejaz and Allen working hard figuring out how to uninstall the parts

And she's out! Weighed a ton! needed two people to remove the S/C from the engine bay! Supercharger will be cleaned later on

Since the internals have never been cleaned, Allen and his crew will be cleaning the entire engine, from top to bottom
The car without the Supercharger, as you can see the AMG S/C on the floor :hilarious:

Supercharger has been installed, just checking if everything fits

The engine is extremely dirty, so will keep you all posted on what happens today. Allen, Ejaz and I will be cleaning the engine bay today and all the internals before we finally install and screw in the Weistec parts.

Well, we were bumped to the top of the list but then it all depended on DHL who was delivering the kits. Our kit got delayed after it got to Bahrain because it reached during our national day, accession day and weekend. SO for 4 days it was just sitting there.Originally Posted by andy_meng1024

The SC Pulley, Belts and DME are ont he way back now so once we finish install of the parts we have our hands on now, we still have to wait for the DME, Belt and Pulley.
SL55K will keep ya'all updated while I enjoy working on his ride. Cheers.

God i hope the 10-second mark can be achieved easily without the need of slicks or other enhancements

my sentiments exactly! if you have to get geared up to run in the 10's, it really isn't a 10 second car. hp rules all, even if you have to peddle it the entire way.
looking forward to how this works out and the elimination of the clutch!
