UPDATE:
Well, just like at the very beginning in my excitement I bought too much s---t. The wireless cheetah laser readout was not needed after installed so we are re working the install for a more stealth look. This and weather has caused delays. The box built for the sub that will replace the rear panel behind the seats had to be redone. The installer wasn't satisfied with the first one. Also, those who own a pre-2005 know the dash piece goes around the entire unit. BIG problem because the double din kit is fits >2005 so we are trying to mod fit the dash, i.e. cutting the top off the carbon fiber dash kit and seeing if it survives enough to look good installed. Overall I'm extremely impressed with the creativity and craftsmanship of World Wide. If they got rid of my **** retentiveness and over eagerness with equipment...my install could have been done by now

did you try contacting your carbon interior dealer to see if there would be a way to swap out your center piece for an 05? and who makes the dash kit for the 05? I have been looking a bit with minimal success.

what did he do? I would like to go carbon surround, but I'm not sure if I would go carbon over that or just carbon by itself

Slow going but more pics...
Sub installed and awaiting mesh cover.
DIN KIT getting bondo and machined lip treatment so CF dash kit lays flush on top for an OEM look. Laser jammer and built in Escort wired and stealth...pick ETA...maybe tommorrow...definitely Super Bowl Sunday....stay tuned for critique of the sound.

does that box allow you to open the rear bins? I really think I prefer giving up the 2 inches or so of the pass side floor and having the stock location, but I'm guessing this position is slightly better for sound production since it isn't under floor mat, carpet, and insulation

I have the same sub and the other components are stock for now, but I like your list, aside from the deck, I guess I have had friends have bad luck with Sony car stereo stuff, although there home stuff is great. Maybe things have changed since I got out of stereo stuff a few years back. If you get some pics from the installer you should throw them up on here

That doesn't sound like a horrible price, maybe I don't realize what the laser/radar stuff costs, but I was looking at the audio portion but using higher end deck and speakers I was looking at 3500 total for my car

for equipment radar about 1000, laser jammer 300-400 bucks. Brunt of cost comes from the customization and making it look like it's not in the car or came OEM. Except for the obvious subwoofer box behind the seats. I sacrificed stealth for sound on that one.

With COMMAND removed what do you do about setting the time on the dash clock (just below the windshield)?
I've heard that there is a way of getting a manual timeset menu for the clock through a STAR activated option. Don't know if this is true.
I'm thinking about doing to my 03 SL55 what you have done to yours. Thanks for sharing all of the information.

Just use the steering wheel controls to get the correct menu for time...

PS...Install looks gorgeous so far!

I believe it is separate system. I have an aftermarket unit and when I there is a time change (i.e. daylight savings) all I do is use the menu in the center console in front of the steering wheel. It is the same menu that I use to change the convenience features in the car (like lighting, seat controls, etc...)
