2003 SL55 2007 S550
I have a 2003 SL55. I want to do a COMMAND replacement similar to what jmejones is doing. I am concerned that I will lose the dash clock (which is also the parktronic display). The 2003 offers no way to set the clock other than through COMMAND.
I have been told that if COMMAND is removed that a manual clock set menu will appear but I have never been able to confirm this.
Has anyone with an 03 or 04 replaced COMMAND? What happened with the clock?

Unfortunately from MBUSA..."Based on the information listed below, there simply isn't any additional course of action that can be recommended as the SL-Class clock is only set
through the COMAND unit directly for MY 2004."

Oh my. This is a problem.
Thanks for sharing the information.
If I upgrade COMMAND I'll have a clock that is wrong at least half of the year (daylight savings) or longer (battery removed, etc.). If I remove the clock I lose the front parktronic display.
Looking for ideas.

Save your money guys, the sound level in the cabin of an SL will be about
80+ db, with the roof down in traffic up to 90 db or more, the finer subtleties
of a good system are lost. However for posing at 30 maybe it's worth it.

Agreed, and any insurance adjuster that tries to tell me some of the scratches on the roof are from the movement of the top also deserves a beating

Removing and replacing rear panel
UPDATE:
Well, just like at the very beginning in my excitement I bought too much s---t. The wireless cheetah laser readout was not needed after installed so we are re working the install for a more stealth look. This and weather has caused delays. The box built for the sub that will replace the rear panel behind the seats had to be redone. The installer wasn't satisfied with the first one. Also, those who own a pre-2005 know the dash piece goes around the entire unit. BIG problem because the double din kit is fits >2005 so we are trying to mod fit the dash, i.e. cutting the top off the carbon fiber dash kit and seeing if it survives enough to look good installed. Overall I'm extremely impressed with the creativity and craftsmanship of World Wide. If they got rid of my **** retentiveness and over eagerness with equipment...my install could have been done by now
