Highly recommend you use Morel Speakers if you're an audiophile. Their basic components sound as good or better than the high end JL separates. I have their low end components in my wagon, and their Ovations and Elates in some other cars. Fantastic.

Personally I'm a Focal nut job, but I just put JL woofers in and I'm very impressed. Looks like a great list, looking forward to seeing some pics of the install

Not an audiophile at all and everything is all ready being delivered. Thanks for the heads up but I won't miss what I never had:-)

Will do on the pics sometime in January.

The list is looking good...post pics. I am a Focal/Hertz fan but the Z series from JL is very good, too. DON'T forget to make sure they sound deaden adequately.

Just for future reference and for other guys thinking of upgrading amplifiers, consider the JL HD line. I have them in my Suburban build (1 JLHD600/4, 1 JLHD900/5, and 1 JLHD750/1)...the three of them probably are the same size of just 1 JL 1000/1 and they are SQ (sound quality) amps that don't draw as much (vs JL1000/1) from the OE electrical system.

PS Consider investing in a CTEK battery tender...even without the stereo upgrades the batteries in the E55 and SL65 have all drained down with any extended period of non driving.

If I don't drive my car for more than a couple of days, I hook them up to the CTEK...I have 3 (2 for the E55 and 1 for the SL65)

Good luck...you will ENJOY immensely the ability to drive with the top down and still enjoy quality tunes even at speed.

I have the same sub and the other components are stock for now, but I like your list, aside from the deck, I guess I have had friends have bad luck with Sony car stereo stuff, although there home stuff is great. Maybe things have changed since I got out of stereo stuff a few years back. If you get some pics from the installer you should throw them up on here

nobody makes a wiring harness since the factory system uses fiber optic cables. You basically have to rewire all of the speakers when you get an aftermarket deck, and aside from speaker wires, there are only a few other wires needed.

Always a hater in the group. Nope, delays caused by weather and equipment changes were being made after consulting with Wide Word Stereo in the Philadelphia suburbs, my installers. They didn't like the type of JL Amps or 5.25 inch speakers. Plus they wanted to do research on the steering wheel controls and then I had to get rescheduled. And I was waiting for varius Sirius radio tuner and iPod connections to come my way.

So for Mister BS...on Feb 1 when I will post pics I expect an endearing apology. So impatient...LOL

That being said, dropping the car off this Sunday, the 16th and hopefully it will be back to me the following Sunday, the 23rd. And if you still don't believe, give Chris a call at WWS Ph: 215-368-8343 and ask him about the 2004 black SL 600 coming in this weekend.

Later hater...

I am still too broke to finish my install at this point......I have toyed around with the idea of taking my dvd/nav setup from my daily and dropping it in, but I don't think I can throw in anything not super top of the line. Good luck with your install and have your installer take some good pics of their progress

I agree with picking up a CTEK battery tender. I have one hooked up to my sl55 as well if i don't drive it for a week just in case.

the start...

the start...
The radar system in the front bumper with the wires running out through the engine bay.

The sensors/jammers sitting behind the grille at the front of the car.

The back seat removed in preparation of the wires being ran for the amplifier as well as wires for the back up camera.

Some of the power wire feeding from the trunk to the place where the amps will sit. That's your gas tank sitting there, by the way!

JL amps behind drivers side.

A closer look at both amps tucked into the storage compartment.

The Batcap under the amplifiers with proper fusing and wire management.

Everything vanishes!! The amps / Batcap / crossovers are all tucked away behind factory panels. It's a great stock look!

more pics today...

The lights for the radar system (Escort 9500 system) flushed into either side of the display at the top of the dash.

The Bluetooth microphone flushed into the headliner near the rearview mirror.

The factory radio / center console area disassembled waiting for the new Sony radio to make it's way in.

Speaker wire run to the doorsill area. This will be the wire that will hook up your JL components.

Hopefully I will have more tomorrow...Should be able to pick car up on Sunday.
