the finished product looks great, was getting the headlights in and functional as big of a pain as people say? I also think the wheels don't fit with the lines, but other than that it looks great.

Thanks NEMES1S! The headlights bolt right on. I think having a plan, the right tools and people were key to making it painless. The lights were functional within an hour and half.

I am looking to get my first house, so my mods budget is in the dumps, trying to part out my ELM now, if I do anything to my car it will likely be paint my current headlights and the other aluminum looking plastics on the car. your car is super clean. Did you go OEM bumper for rear or aftermarket?

The conversion lacks some underbody panels. It's probably not a big deal in the US, as you guys aren't allowed to drive at very high speeds on highways anyway, but here in Germany, this would be considered a SERIOUS safety risk.
You can see the missing underbody panel through that mesh. It will let the whole car become unstable at very high speeds and/or in windy environments. It also carries the risk of losing the remaining underbody panels, when going at extremely high speeds.
There are many more small underbody parts which need to be mounted correctly. If the conversion was done accepting such a major flaw, I would double check whether everything else was done properly.

All components used for the conversion are genuine Mercedes parts.[/quote]
I mean paint them, take the clear part off and paint the inside that is all chrome. I just need to find an auto body shop that I can trust with these expensive pieces.

Thanks Sharkster, I appreciate your concern. I guess you may have not seen the post where I addressed the situation with under panel. I'm waiting for that piece of plastic to arrive.
It is important Yes. Absolutely... That's why I mentioned it and ordered the part. But, it's not a major safety risk for the car, especially here in the US. I understand what you're saying and it makes sense. You might be speculating just a tad bit though... I made a few quick pulls to 138mph and this 4500 lbs beast didn't feel unstable what so ever. It was planted at all times and felt smooth as silk. Everything was fine.... Besides, the main under body plastics are still intact and not effected. It's only that piece of plastic that goes from behind the lower front grill to the radiator support.
None the less it's still being addressed.
Everything was done correctly and to manufacturers specifications.
I stand behind my work 100% and will work to correct any imperfections on the project.
Thank you for the feedback!

I would not open up the stock headlights. It will fog up over time. Sometimes sooner then later. Hope this helps

I did the exact same conversion to my ride about a year ago. So I know that all these details are extremely tricky... Anyway, your car looks great!
Here is my conversion:

Hard to tell from the pics, is that a 63 or 65 front end?
Thanks KMPRESOR!!

It's the black "blade" from the 63. I had the 65 chrome blade on at first, but with all the glossy black painted parts on my ride, I thought that the black one would integrate more seamlessly into the whole design.

Thanks. Yea, I considered the lip spoiler, but skipped it. I just adds another seam to the rear view which is already kinda cluttered IMO.

Here's a link to my E63 conversion if anyone wants to check it out

Oh, you're talking about the "blade." Let me clarify... I meant the actual bumper. Is yours from a 63 or 65?

About the bumper... I don't think that there's any difference between the 65 and the 63 bumper except for the blade.

I thought the same thing. I was just curious because my friend at house of imports told me the bumpers (63 and 65) had different part numbers and something might be different regarding the side vents. Guess I could be wrong.
Have you ever looked in the rear view mirror at your car? The front end on the SL63/65 looks like it means business haha.
