2007 SL55 w/030 Performance Package

Hi guys,

My dad has the want to start modding his car, he talked to the mechanic at MB. the mechanic said that it would be harder to put things like a Chip and pulley system in since the 030 performance package uses some different parts and these mods may mess it up. What do you guys think, has anyone with the SL w/030 done this???

Thanks Guys!

If I am not mistaken below are the 030 package items:

AMG Compound Brakes, SL65 Front Fascia (Bumper), Nurburgring ABC Suspension, 19" AMG 5 spoke wheels, Alcantara Sport Steering Wheel, Limited Slip Differential, 186 mph top speed.

I am not seeing how any of these could affect engine mods.

the 030 functionally is strictly a suspension package

all engine and tranny- related upgrades will be the same

If the 030 package has the limiter removed, then it gets (or did when I got my SL55 a long time ago (i'm in Europe)) a larger 2nd fuel pump (else it burns lean) and a larger oil cooler (or else it gets too hot) if you make use of the faster speed.

Shouldn't be anything to complicate tuning. Just make sure the tuner you go with is aware of the VIN.

PS. I posted the last message based on what I got told by AMG when I was there in 2003!

I have now looked at EPC, and I can't see *any* evidence of a larger 2nd fuel pump and thus that may have only applied to very early cars (I had an 2002 SL55) - but there is definetly extra oil cooling with the 030/P30/P98 options and extra fans to cool the oil cooler as they are shown in EPCnet.

I know this is an older post from last year. My wife and I just bought a per-owned 07 SL55 with this 030 Perf pkg.

AMG Compound Brakes, SL65 Front Fascia (Bumper), NurburgringABCSuspension, 19" AMG 5 spoke wheels, Alcantara Sport Steering Wheel, Limited Slip Differential, 186 mph top speed.

This is a $14k option as noted on the original window sticker. What exactly is this “Nurburgring ABC Suspension”?

Thanks in Advance,

First off, congrats. You have one fine machine and no doubt a very special SL55. We must see pictures

As far as the Nurburgring ABC suspension, i only can guess that the suspension is tuned for cornering at high speed around the famous nurburgring in Germany. Most likely much tighter suspension than the normal SL55. I am curious though. Do you have an ABC sport button near the shifter that you can toggle on and off?

Again, congrats on the special SL and welcome to the forum.

Hi Cal1,

Thank you. Yes it does have a ABC button. We've had this car for less than a week (since last Sunday the 11th) It's currently at my regular MB dealer for service updating (ouch $) my service advisor there told me "welcome to the big leagues of car service" We're also in the process of getting 3rd party extended warrantee. We bought one, but may change it to a different one. We are still in the 30 day limit of doing so.
This is our intro into the SL class. I just traded in our Mars Red SLK55. I'm new as of this evening to this forum. I'll post pics of our new (to me) 07 SL55 as soon as I get it back. It has the SL65 front fascia as well. It's Iridium Silver with a Pano roof. I'm debating on finding a SL65 rear lip spoiler. It seems to look a lil naked without one. The ABC button, I have yet to read the manual on what it does and how it works.

Cheers,
~Earl J

Hi Cal1,

Here's the only (crappy) pic I have so far. Taken with my cell phone. fore ground is the 07 SL55, in the back ground was our old 06 Mars Red SLK55. I'm posting this as a test (for me) on adding attachments/photos.

Congrats on the new addition to the family! The ABC switch should lower and raise the suspension.

It is exactly that. A stiffer more 'performance oriented' set of ABC struts.

Beautiful car!

The ABC button changes the stiffness of the suspension. When the little light in the upper right corner of the button is on, the car is in sport suspension. Off is normal. I drive in sport all of the time. I was thinking with your tighter tuned suspension, you might find it more comfortable to run in normal mode and sport for the twisties.

The button opposite left of ABC will raise the car in increments of I think about an inch or so.

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
it depends on what you call a kit. The difference is different rotors and calipers. If its a retrofit kit, everything needed to mount it should be there

I have an 07 SL55 with the p30 and there are more diffs than the basic listed ones but they did not change much fo my mods , a pulley , split cooling, reflashing the ecu, headers. I switched to a non clutched 76mm pulley. Had to relocate,3” oil cooler to fit heat exchanger, that’s move the oil cooler 3”. I would like to tighten my limited slip to grab 2ed wheel sooner any help?
