best way to not burn out?

i finally got the chance to step on the SL55 from a complete stop, but i realized the car is running way too many horses for it's own good. i burned out every single time, and when i turned off esp, made it even worse, i actually fish-tailed a lil. the car is fast, but takes a while to launch. any recommendations, new tires or does the car just have too much power?

This is what I do...I leave it on W mode which makes the car start out in 2nd gear and always leave the ESP on...It takes time to get used the accelerater.

Would starting in second be beneficial?? Wouldn't you want the power first gear has to offer?? Perhaps slowly getting on it, move around 10-15 mph, make sure tires are obviously gripping, than gunning it. When they're moving, they tend to grip more.

Granted, I do this in a C43, which only has 302 hp... I still burn rubber easily though!

Get thee to the nearest friendly

local dragstrip and practice, practice, practice. It'll take some time to calibrate your right foot....AND...if you really feel that it has "too much" horsepower, you bought the wrong car.

When you have all that HP available, 1st gear it's not neccesary.
Take off in second and you'll do better.

"best way to not burn out".......is to step on the accelerator SLOWLY. Now, if your title said "bext way to launch" i would have said what the other guys said.

I like the Volvo V70R and S60R - oh, and the AMG SL55 or SL65
Errr, you are burning tires on launching with ESP on? Something doesn't click - ESP should prevent burnout by managing power to wheels regardless of how much throttle you give, no? I could understand launch issues with ESP off, but with all the management systems on I don't understand how a loss of control (tire spin) could be provoked?

try this...I do it in my C32...I know there is the whole 150 hp difference but I can still rip the tires apart into 3rd gear if i just mash it.

When I launch the car i put the pedal down to the floor and once i feel/hear the tires start to spin, I let off just enough so that they calm down. Then once everything is back in order...the pedal goes right down to the floor again. It works like a charm on the C32....I think it might work for you too.

States above, simply too much power for it's own good. Electronics have finally been surprassed by brute force.
