ABC troubleshoot
I am going to try and get the car into the shop today ('06 SL55). Computer says "ABC Visit Workshop" I've noticed that when the car is parked for a longer period of time that the front left suspension is lowering. It always comes back up when I rasie the level up; and it never lowers while its running. Anyone have a good idea of what is going on? I'm guessing either a leak or worn out parts.
Also; what is the rear fog light? The car also is telling me the rear left foglight is out; but I don't know what that is; nor do I see a light out walking around the car.

Sounds like it's time for a new front ABC strut. Common place on our cars and $$$.
I just did mine:
Self supplied the strut ($799), lifetime warranty, $240 for the dealer to install. Keep in mind that the car will need to be rodeod after instal (which my MB dealer tried to skip)

Yes,
Arnott, item number: 380293662061. Best price I could find anywhere and they were great to deal with. No hassle on my core and the remanufactured item looked like it was new.
An "affordable" solution that offers a lifetime warranty.
You will need STAR for the Rodeo (gets the air out of the system) so you need the dealer or a STAR equipped shop to do the instal.

As of right now; the dealership is telling me it is an internal leak in the front valve block. To replace the valve block is $1550 through them for the part.
I am going to look online to see if I can do any better; but if anybody knows about this off hand or knows where to buy this at a better price, let me know!

Yeah, the three major suspects of an ABC issue are struts, valve block or hydraulic pump. I believe the problem is sometimes resolved with a flush and fluid replacement, but if it does not resolve, your back to the three major suspects. Good luck.
By the way, pull out on the headlight switch. First click are the front fogs, second click are the rears. I have had a rear fog light out forever. I never use them so most likely won't replace the lamp.
I wonder how many people even know they have rear fogs. I had never heard of such a thing. My concern is Americans will mistake rear fogs for brake lights.

That's true, however you could have that same strut installed 4 times with the savings over the stealer, not to mention the stealer only offers a one year warranty on their item vs. a lifetime warranty.
