I would think it should be closer to half of what you are paying. I'm 30 and have a cls55 and pay $900 a year with state farm.

hey guys, just joined the family...
picked up an 03 SL55 this weekend for 29k cash with 60k mi...best day of my life!
i was just wonderin if i could get some feedback on what you're payin on insurance? im 25 yrs old with 1 speeding ticket in 2009..geico quoted me $1012 for 6months ($2024 for the year)
just wondering if that seems a little high? 1000 deductible on comp and collision, w/ 500k pip

That's better than some premiums I've heard of. It does vary widely by location though. For some reason, Geico has always given me retardedly high quotes. I'm insured with state farm and they have always been the cheapest for me.

If you can get to 3 years with no tickets/accidents give State Farm a call. You should be able to get to about half of that if you qualify for their mutual company...

Most insurance consumers incorrectly think they can throw out age car and driving history and get the actual rate.
We need your age, marital status, credit score, the REAL amount of tickets and accidents in past 3 years, annual mileage, amount of cars, how long you have been insured...
Further, the other posters are not telling you how long they have been insured with their companies and how many OTHER products they have with their current carriers.
Long story short, you need to make some dials and report back to us.

i was really just trying to get a ballpark.. just see if im in the range, even if im on the high end of the range as a single young guy... i think this thread is good for anyone looking to shop around before they buy thier car anyway
i did check progressive before i went with geico and they quoted me like 7 grand!!! i started laughing and the guy actually said to me, "whats so funny?" so when i told him what geico's quote was, he then said well they obviously made a mistake...so i sat there on the phone in disbelief and said, you mean to tell me that the 7000 quote isnt a mistake but the quote for 1000 is?? does that sound right to you for a car worth 30 something? ...didnt get very far after that. haha
but it seems like state farm is the general consensus here so im gonna check with them as well,

You guys live in the ozarks with that low pricing. Here in So Cal I pay about $2400 yr for my 06 CLS 55 with 500K g/l, 200 ded for col, 100K uninsured motorist, 5K med and that is just for 1 car. No tickets in 20 yrs! With Mercury Insur. 6+ yrs. (This is very good pricing compared to others in this locale)
For my all my 8 cars, about $7K/yr (NIC my Bentley which is the cheapest with Hagardy-$600/yr Classic Car Insur)

You're overpaying, however you're young with a speeding ticket. Take defensive driving course and there goes 10% off your bill. Check around. If u need to I insure more than one vehicle or a house with it, they'll give u deals. Also, I'd slow down. Ive been through so many tickets that it just isn't worth it anymore. Good luck.

Wait, it gets better! Seems I overpaid by $112 so they sent me a check back. That's $174 for the year, not $286. Grundy's only limitations are no errands with the car, no driving to work and it has to be garaged. I use the car primarily to go to the shore, so it's perfect insurance for me. They don't have a mileage limitation either. But I only do maybe 3-4 thousand miles per year, tops.
My VW I insure with Geico runs me about $1800 per year. Go figure!
