Intake air temperature for an SL65???? What's it supposed to be?

Can somebody tell me what the air intake temperatures are supposed to be for an SL65?

I've heard 20F above ambient temperature.
I've heard 150F.

Does anyone know?

Mine is 80F-90F, which seems to be consistent with your ambient+20.

This was measured after original pump was replaced

Under what conditions? It isn't the same as cruising down the road as it is stuck in traffic - at least on mine.

Correct. Condition will completely dictate. For instance, this weekend I was driving in 95* temp in bumper to bumper. My IATs went all the way to 160*

So would it be considered normal for the intake air temperature to climb to 180F and stay there for an entire 1 mile run at the Texas Mile? Outside air temps were around 85F.

In my opinion, no. When my pump was completely out the temps would climb over 200. But even at the dragstrip they never go over 130F with the Meziere pump I'm currently running, even hot lapping to the pit lanes.

There is no "normal" but a range. The better question is at what point is your cars power significantly decreased. The answer is at about 140+f the ecu begins to pull power (timing, boost etc...). IAT climbing to 170 in slow traffic is normal but a well functioning intercooling system should not allow IAT to climb above 140 in a single mile run even with outside temps at 100 degrees.

My point is with good airflow and short bursts off power (under a minute), you should not be seeing high IATs.

Search this forum for an amazing amount of detail about this subject matter so that you are armed with the facts to make good decisions vs picking up "tid bits" of info here and there that will only leave you with more questions.

I broke down and bought a Scangauge2. It plugs into the ECU port under the dash. The dealer didn't have a clue. I bought my pump and fittings from Jegs.com. I took the entire front bumper cover off to get enough room to get it in there the way I wanted.

Reviving thread with info.
With the heat being rather high, I took a few readings at steady state cruising. With 102 degF ambient temps, mine runs 155 degF on IATs at a 70mph cruise. At 80 mph it dropped to about 147 degF. I had hard time maintaining slower speeds the other day due to traffic but with 100 degF ambient mine was running a hair over 170 degF at a near steady 35mph speed. If I punched it, the temps drop dramatically - which is what you'd expect (down to about 115 degF) until it heats up the water circuit but I'm doing over 100mph before I start seeing that.

Another data point is at Texas World doing a track day, the IATs were in the 190-230 degF range towards the 3-4th lap. And I was only at about 1/2-3/4 throttle on the straights.
