picture of round exhaust tips on SL65

I'm researching options for a muffler delete on SL65. In general, I like round tips versus oval tips but I'm not sure if round is right for the 65.

Anybody have pics of round exhaust tips on 65?

ty in advance

I also like round tips, but I worry I will loose my sound on my SL63 if I make
them round.

Good point. I hadn't thought about the potential sound consequences.

It will look like a M3 or M5. I saw a SL55 with three round tips per side at the Private Lounge event. I might have a picture on my camera.

Be sure to put your SL65 tips up for sale on this forum. I'm sure a SL63 owner would want them.

Why not go with SL65 BS trapizoidal tips?

Slightly off topic but are the tips available to buy on their own as a replacement? I have an Sl500 but with amg suspension/wheels/kit but only the boring sl500 tips on the exhaust!

Thanks

no they are not - you have to buy the whole muffler assembly - just had to replace and it is not cheap! they do have aftermarket ones available that afre not bad, but nothing like original

I think the SL65 has the same exhaust tips as the 63.
Certainly all the ones I have seen.

Actually changing to round tips will change the sound. As I am an acoustic
engineer sound is altered by shapes. Now the AMG has a round pipe of about
2 inches going into the oval tip, now to do the job properly a round pipe should go back all the way to the box, so a 3 inch plus pipe several inches
longer will sound different than a smaller pipe going into a oval tip bigger
in size. The trouble wil it sound better or worse
It's a try and hear project.

Let me know if you want sound clips of what my V12TT sounds like, uncorked. There's a link in my signature for one of em....

You won't regret the decision to delete the mufflers. They sound sinister. But yeah, keep the OEM tips....

Benz-O-Rama, it was your audio/sound clip attached to your signature that convinced me of the muffler delete. Your car sounds fantastic !!!!

I'd certainly welcome more sound clips you if you'd like to post or send them. Thx in advance.

Now that's how an SL should look and should sound. Beautiful.
