SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: SL65 longevity

SL65 longevity
I have an 06 Sl65 with 63k on it. It's my daily driver and has not been driven very hard. I love the car but wonder if the car makes it to 100k. No warranty but repairs are probably cheaper than the depreciation on the 09 sl65 I am thinking of buying. 10k a year repair bills don't bother me. What would you do?

If up to 10k per year in repairs did not bother me, I would keep the beast. I am not familiar with the V12 but most MB drive trains are robust and will provide well over 100,000 in fun miles. It is our damn ABC and electronic crap that seems to plague the R230.
Have you checked into aftermarket warranties?

Hard to find the combination open air driving, classic looks (I prefer the 06 styling), and torque in (V12TT FTW) anything these days...good preventative maintenance, budget allotted for worn parts, and repor with a reliable MB certified indie will help...
I plan to keep mine until I can find something that can deliver the same qualities mentioned above...nothing right now out there really could sway me to let it go...good luck with whatever you decide, though.

I've seen lots of 600 cars with over 100k. You don't see many high mileage 65 cars due to the fact that they are newer and a bit more prestigious/collectable.
I'd definitely look into an aftermarket warranty.
...but if $10k a year in repairs doesn't bother you...I think you will be OK.

Obviously not an sl but still a 65. There are some 65s that have crossed the 100k mark, I don't really follow sl's. I think in general an SL is driven less whether its from being a two seater or if its just used as the nice weather convertible. It may be worth contacting this owner and asking questions as to what he has replace as a second owner in the higher miles. It may give you piece of mind or encourage the upgrade. Good luck with what ever you do. I can see most have a tough time giving up the all around endless power that goes with the 65 and explains the lateral move.

RE: Longevity
I love my 05, which just turned 28K, and have no doubt as to the drivetrain's longevity. The V12 remains the most entertaining engine I have owned to date and I also find the 2008 and earlier cars styling much more pleasing to the eye.
However, this car has proven to be expensive to repair when things go wrong, my warranty has paid for everything to date, and I have 2.5 years left, but don't think I'd own any R230 without a warranty.
All that matters though is your repair expense threshold, agree that depecriation on an 09 for the next couple of years will easily exceed 10K per year, but if I were you, I'd get a warranty for your 06 anyway.

Many 65 AMG's out there with over 100k on them or near close. Most being the S65 and the CL65
