SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: New SL65 record - Barely - 10.83 @ 128.27 mph

It's so sick how fast these TT V12's are with just a tune.
I'm excited now that some tuners are finally throwing on upgraded turbo's and cranking up boost for race gas.
As far as I know, Renntech uses the stock intercoolers...
Why do companies like Speedriven engineer those big intercoolers if you can reach those speed records with the stock ones ?

PS Speedriven powered 65's run much faster including Traps in the 133-135 mph range vs this SL65 @ 128 mph.
DON'T confuse it w/SGC's CL65 it has 1-off true Ram air CAI, 1-off Ceramic super lightweight rotors, Carbon Fiber Driveshaft, light weight wheels, weight reduction, Intercooler pump upgrade kit, heat exchanger, more than likely @ 29-30 psi etc..

Car has stock intercoolers, stock heat exchanger and stock pump. Heat soak is an issue.
Will lose 3-4 mph trap speed if don't let cool down.

I was going to leave it stock; however, I have no self control when it comes to leaving cars alone. 11.50s @ 121 was not fast enough
, so I threw on a set of Renntech airboxes that were collecting dust in my garage from my old S65, and had Renntech put a tune in it. Also, I ran 18 inch Hoosiers on Renntech Monolites. I've gone nearly 130 mph trap speed letting it cool down, and it slows down to 125 - 127 mph when it gets hot. It needs a better pump and heat exchanger. Probably the next thing I'll do.With a ram air system, better intercoolers, more efficient heat exchanger, better intercooler pump, and 100 octane, it should run 10.4 - 10.5s @ 133 - 135. If take some weight out, like ceramic rotors and carbon drive shaft, should go 10.2 -10.3s @ 136- 137.
However, the best bang for my buck was a Renntch tune, and a set of airboxes from my garage

I was trying not to mess with it. No such luck.

I just watched your 11.1 video, sounds like they're not afraid to use plenty of traction compound at MIR. I'd really like to make some passes there, as we are always fighting the heat and traction at PBIR.
Also, your SL600 sounds nasty (in a good way) compared to my SL65 - you can't even hear my car going down the track. I can hear your turbos spool through the exhaust on your burnout. Did you delete the resonators or cats? Sounds great.
Btw, how much weight did you save with the cf driveshaft and where did you get it?

But yeah, MIR is prepped very well. I still had traction problems at our last rental though, but that was because of track temp. Not much could be done about that....
The only exhaust work I did, was a simple rear muffler delete. There are no resonators on these cars, just 1 pair of beer keg sized cats.
Congrats again, and bring it out to MIR!
Renntech had the shaft made.
I think it saved at least 10 - 15 lbs of rotating mass; however, the additional strength was what we were really looking for.
If my memory is correct, the ceramic rotors saved about 100 lbs of rotating mass.

3 hundreths of a second separating you from a 10.99. Thats a killer.
BTW, the SL sounds great with the rear mufflers out.
I'm rooting for you to get that 10 second run
. Sooo close. May plan a trip to MIR. Let you know.
