Seeking advice regarding Screen and Rear Window Trim

Just received my '05 SL55 and have some issues:

1. Rear window surround trim appears to be CF (is it?). Any comments, suggestions about replacing it?

2. TV-Screen has some pixel problems, any comments/suggestions?

Appreciate any and all input. Thanx!

Will post more photos of the car following a proper detail shortly...

Faux Aluminium/Aluminum

Oh, and I also am uneasy about the faux aluminium/aluminum interior trim. How difficult to replace or upgrade these?

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
guessing that somebody put cf wrap on the rear window trim to cover up bad parts, they are a plexiglass type material, that has to be replaced with factory parts. nav screen is bad and has to be replaced, suggest used radio, try ebay, or midwest electronics to replace.
console, some were silver painted metal/aluminium, you can replace with wood or carbon fiber, try ebay.

Here is a DIY on how to replace the window trim. Did it myself a month ago, it was easy.

They are $51.00 a piece. The DIY has the part numbers.

Thanks for the response and link.

Interestingly, I was told when I got the car that these specific parts for the SL55 AMG version had this faux carbon fibre finish. The shiny surround was for 'lesser' SL's.

Did you buy the car in person or online? Regardless, you should take it to a knowledgeable MB mechanic, just for preventative maintenance. Maybe a leaking seal or low trans fluid... Good color choice. I have the same colors.

its called the post purchase check

Here's the deal, the Mercedes Dealer's won't assess the condition of any Mercedes Benz car that you may be interested in buying (even if this is a paid service that is offered elsewhere). The reasoning is kind of based on Homer Simpson infamous "D'oh" in that the condition report may uncover nasties that a potential buyer would user against the seller to reduce the price below what the seller may wish to sell it at (i.e. undermining the value of their cars in the process). So, the only way to find out anything is to get them to do a $1000 "service" in which the glaringly obvious problems would become obvious and would have to be reported. So, on this basis I proceeded with the purchase (the car had the color combination and mileage that I was seeking) and I figured all else can/will be sorted.

Turns out I also have a glitch with the ABC, which they will diagnose more fully and report back. I also note that the cars pulls to the left (which could be related to the ABC. The car needed new tires, so that went on yesterday and the fun I had sliding the tail around on ye olde tires has largely disappeared with the new Michelins. The car will need new brake pads & discs, some fluids, and for me to deal with the problems as highlighted in the photos. So hopefully, once these matters are dealt with the car should be purrfect!
