To be or not to be...wide body and SL63 converstion?

Just going through preliminary talks about a new build...

Prior Design SL Widebody...they have the Black Edition but it looks too cartoonish for me...plus I like my carbon fiber rear diffuser. I've also been toying with getting the fresher look with the 63 front end. I'd still black out the chrome bits, though and we would have to do something with the front emblem. Working on getting the following in CF...front lip, fender side grilles, rear lip, front bumper vents, and side mirrors...

With these wheels in 21's...305/375's as a possible F/R tire setup. I could use the wheels I have now but I don't want to mess with spacers. Not sure of finish makeup yet...

Do it !!!

I like th prior "thin" widebody, I mean not as wide as the BS replica one.

That's a great kit, making the SL just a little nastiest.

Jon, you're obviously bored with your GTR at Switzer and all.....

I'm no longer clicking on your build threads until I see "Ultimate Yaris Bosozoku build thread"

That said, if you decide to part ways with your rear bumper/diffuser setup, ping me first.

Your projects are always amazing & leave no stone unturned Though be careful w/Prior Designs (I also recieved few pm's from others on similar problems w/them)

Thanks guys...sourcing up the parts now so I don't plan to do this until I know the majority of parts are available. I don't plan to be posting build news 7 months from now like the GTR. Yes I brought up the concerns re: Prior and here is part of my conversation with the owner of C2Design (Chris)...

"Prior Design is German....that's where the problem is for the guys dealing with Prior in Germany. I deal with the guy in the US....he's the US importer. The Audi R8 we did was a very easy transaction. He mentioned that Germany has problems on their end but that doesn't affect him as he keeps stock here. Seems like the guys in the thread were dealing with the Germans. Not fun."

Chris has never led me down the wrong road so I trust his judgement.

I would have never considered do this without knowing a competent auto body shop...this guy is old school artiste that did the paint on the GTR and all the other bits on my other bits. He is this ornery Austrian dude that specializes in Porsche restoration. The work he did on my GTR carbon fiber hood was magical and getting the front quarter panels to match the Nissan OE red was top notch...I couldn't tell.

Yes...I love the wheels...simple and clean. The wheels on some the Prior site for the SL are a little too busy and "heavy" looking to me...

Just looking out for ya bud... I too like the design of the Prior kits & Inden Designs as long as you can get parts Doooo EEttttt (even though I went w/MishaDesigns ONLY thing I'd change is color to Battleship Dark Grey Satin prolly getn' it wrapped soon)

If you need a hookup w/Wheels shoot me PM I dealt w/Chris@FX AutoDesign Sponsor here, super flawless customer service etc... Those wheels are very nice indeed & look very similar to my RENNEN Forged's

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
I like the sl black series, not love it. Its almost over exaggerated. But to me the aftermarket wide bodies are too much. I like to see the origional body enhanced. Not overblown.
I found one with only front fenders that looks good. They said Wahl, but I couldnt find it on the web site. Probibly trace them again and get the truth.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-...item33713184cd

I could probibly find a restyled hood that I like, but just doing the fenders makes a difference on the 63 body. I like the rear bumper as-is. You could change the front fogs to leds like the blue car. But for me its styled just enough.

Do it...I've shelved the project for now. I ended up getting the Porsche 993tt and working on that build now.

Post pics!

some of the prior kits aren't priced that bad. i'm guessing 6k will get you this installed-painted.

I've seen better looking kits...I'm not partial to SLR look on the SL. Actually, I don't like the SLR on the SLR.

The Prior Wide Body kit is more than 6k though...probably twice or more installed.

Prior, was 1 of the more expensive kits def NOT the best quality or design either, do your research if you're @ all serious.

ALL said & done, complete QUALITY new paint job, new larger wheels/tires, & literally thousands in OEM factory parts to make it all fit perfectly, install/prep/ the average WELL done Widebody will run between $30k-$40k Depending on options & quality of parts you ultimately end up choosing/buying.. When done right it's worth every penny. MishaDesigns is right there @ the TOP
