Curious what people's first impressions are of the 2013 SL?

I think it's definitely a step forward especially with the new twin turbo engine and 429 BHP. Not a big fan of the new front seats as they look "chunky". Exterior styling is nice. Lots of electronics to maintain so definitely would want to drive within warranty period.

Would I hand over my paid for 2007 SL550 and $65,000 in cash?

Probably not...

What I want to know is...

Do you think that the R230 bodystyle will increase in value because of the overemphacized over-engineered, overly boyish design of the 2013 SL?

I don't like the new front.... It's look like a Volvo V40 .

Maybe in about 30-40 years. I think a gazillion is a bit of a stretch.

Benz and appreciation just doesn't go together...unless you are talking about classics.

These cars tank in value due to repair costs and the fact that most Benz drivers want the latest and greatest. I look forward to the new SL killing prices for both prefacelift and facelift R230's. This time next year, I'll be in the market for a newer R230. Perhaps a 2007 SL55, SL600, or SL65. Hell, if the 2009 SL600's are cheap enough by then...sign me up!

I think the rumors of the new SL have already killed prices. I was mostly being sarcastic about the appreciation because, personally, I don't like the 2013 SL. Too busy.

I do think that those who were waiting for the 2013 who may not be thrilled with the body style will certainly take advantage of the post facelift 2012- discounts.

In any event, I don't expect to see any around my area anytime soon, and yes it does look like a volvo :hide:

Thoughts?

231>230..........too many advances to hold it back........interior kills 230........navigation and radio/MP3 capabilities improved.......and safety and mileage should be better.........faster car also......probably better handling...........headlamps will take getting used to, but we all will........car should sell well.......don't see need for SLS roadster really....

I was unsure of the front, but I just noticed that the AMG front is different - and much better in my opinion (both the '63 and '65). It's not just the double grill bar - but also the transition between the headlights and grill - and not so pronounced.
