Check out this thread http://m.www.mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=392583 it should help

I laid it out pretty well in post number 2, but frankly can't remember where I got the info. It seems pretty complete and I usually don't pull too many facts out my **** so it should be accurate. I know for a fact 030 was a very expensive add and few SLs have it.

I think there is a way to tell by looking at wheels and front end(the grills for brake cooling). steering wheel is different also.
I need a picture.

Here you go!

The easiest way to tell the difference from the exterior is by the AMG F-1 Safety Car front bumper with side air extractors, 19" 2-piece AMG double-spoke alloy wheels, and the 15" 2-piece front rotors.

The easiest way to tell the difference from the interior is by the Alcantara-tirmmed AMG sport steering wheel.

I believe that picture is from a 2007-2008 car with 030. My 2006 has the SL65 front cover that has more of a mess vent.

2006 sl55 030 option - sold
Im looking for a black 2005-06
The one on ebay is out of my price range and I would like low miles. I may forego 030 option and go with black and silver inside trim.
Mark , can you send me a picture of the front of your car so I may see?

Yes, you are correct.

The first pic I posted is from 2007-2008 and the side air extractors on the front bumper has two vertical vents.

The third pic of the AMG Performance Package brochure is from 2006 and the side air extractors on the front bumper has one large vent.

Yes, if you really want the 030 Performance Package then you may have to forget about getting a specific color combo since they are so rare. It took me 7 months to find my SLK55 030 with my specific color combo. Trust me, once you have the car for a while you'll get over the color. Regardless, the 030 option is a steal on a used SL! Keep searching buddy and have patience!

Is this what you are calling dark silver?

If so, MB calls it Pewter Metalic.

I'm a fan of Pewter metallic too. Not sure how it happened, but I have two Pewter Mercs. You can see my Pewter ML in the garage in the photo above. When Pewter is clean and in bright sun, it looks awesome IMHO.

In 11 years of tuning, we have only run across 2 030 package SL55's. One was a customer's car and the second was one we sold for someone who wanted one.

The original option was $14K, and was not very popular. It would be possible to get a non 030 55 and retrofit most of the stuff, and just get on with it.

Here are pictures of my grey 2007 sl55 with 030 and the white 2006 with 030. My 2007 may be available soon. the person I sold it to was only going to be in this country until later this year and will offer it back to me. It is a fully loaded SL with an MSRP of $180k

2006 sl55 030 option - sold
Does the 030 option have a stiffer suspension , or would it be the same as a regular sl55 .
What kind of price should I pay for an 06 , 07 , 08 , with say 30-47k miles with 030 option?

The 030 option will have a slightly stiffer suspension when in Sport mode since the AMG performance suspension is track calibrated. Comfort mode is suppose to be the same as non-030.
