2005 C55 AMG - 2018 340i - 2006 SL55 AMG - Sold
You do not want to buy an SL500 and try to convert it to an SL55.

Buy an SL55

or

Buy an SL500 and then later buy a Kleeman supercharger for it when you can afford it.

You are probably better off saving up more money and then buying an SL55 as an SL55 will be faster and more reliable then a SL500 with an aftermarket supercharger.

Additionally, unless you can afford AT LEAST $5,000.00 a year to keep the car running, forget it. An early SL55 will run you about $5k a year in repairs/maintenance if you want to keep it in tip top shape.

Yep, bad idea...SL500 has an Aluminum rear sub frame, and the SL55's is steal, to handle the additional torque..

As everybody else said: Don't do it! If the difference between an SL 500 and an SL 55 is about 15k USD, then be aware that this venture couldn't be handled with just 15k. It'd be way more expensive. In fact, I think that it was never done before... for a good reason.

Get yourself an SL 500 (and maybe an AMG bodykit) and keep it like that! The SL 500 is a great car, just the way it is...
