Shops for Installing Illuminated Door Sills
Hi, I have an SL63.
Wanted to know if anyone knew a good shop that can install illuminated door sills for my car.
For some reason all the places I've called sound confused and want to run a trial and error on the car.
I am located in SoCal...your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Part of the reason for the confusion of the shops is becuase some of the vehicle came prewired for the option but did not have it installed. Also to be able to install it on some vehicles the labor is pretty intensive and the cost can be upwards of $2500-$3000 depending on what the car is wired for from the facotry.

@CW8YUP Mercedes already quoted me $700 for install. So I know it's not gonna cost $2500-$3000.
@Faris63 - Thanks for the suggestions I think this shop can get it done.

Haha, I know you understood my sarcasm oz! But seriously how hard can it be replacing the door sills, and splicing the wires into one of the interior lights. $700-$3000!

Thank you for he information..
I just pulled off one of my existing door sill plates. Using a wide putty knife I carefully and gently start raising the plate away from the plastic door sill. Snap by snap and it came right off.
I can see an outline of a potential cut into the plastic, however there is no existing factory cut. Now to determine if the wiring is there.. I doubt it.

Apologize for the delay guys.
Here are the pics. I'm doing some other stuff to my car as well so as soon as I get done with everything I'll post pics of all the mods.

it is an impressive mod that sticks in the minds of passengers for sure and adds a little more class. on my list of things to do. wonder if you could make them do custom ones?
like-
"no fat girls"
"don't fart on the leather for resale"
"objects look bigger inside car"
"candy?"
"whew! i was going to leave without you"
"my name is sqwarchuous"
"i am taking you to your leader" (in a robot voice)
maybe just "amg" is the way to go though. now that i think about it.

These were actually really hard to source.
They weren't custom made, they were actually from the Mercedes Benz Dealership. I saw it on the SLS and one of the parts department guys told me they made it for the SL but he didn't know the part number..lol
So I did finally source them and I love them.
Benzworks installed them but it wasn't the best experience.
1. They told me that the harnesses and wiring that was provided from Mercedes Benz Dealership was wrong and that they had to trick the wiring and install it their way.
2. After about 2 hours they told me that the wiring and harness provided was correct but they didn't have the instructions.
3. After another 2 hours they told me that they were missing parts....but found the parts so that was incorrect either.
I just think they didn't really know what they were doing but nevertheless they did get it done and it was installed correctly, cause I did take the car to the dealership and had them double check it.
The dealership was just charging me $800 for the same install that Benzworks did for $150

instructions or not, problems arise but seems like they stuck to original price and you ended up with a working trouble free product. sounds like a win.
