SL65 and the Texas Mile

Had a GREAT time at the Texas Mile this year!
My daily driven 2006 Mercedes SL65 (with 65,000 miles) ran 185.1 mph in the Texas Mile last weekend! That's 5 mph better than I was expecting.... Very happy with this car. I've driven it back and forth to work every day for the last 3 years and for it to be able to run that fast without any additional prep work is just amazing......

Mods are Renntech tune and intercooler.

It ran faster than several stock Corvette ZR1s and even a stock Ford GT that was there......

Very impressive!!!! I'm sure that made your next trip to work that much more meaningful in the car. I could only imagine sharing the story with coworkers in disbelief.

Congratulations.
Wish I had gone over and talked to you, Maybe next year.
I was hoping/wishing I could get close to you speed. Best I could get was 173. Your car is very consistent. Here is couple shots I got of your car.

And one video:

Cool! Thanks for posting those!

So far, the best 1/4 mile time from this car is 11.1 @ 129.7 mph with a 1.72 sixty foot time on street tires.

Awesome run. I just purchased a 2005 SL65 with ~53,000. Do you have the 687 hp/800+ ft-lbs torque RennTech ECU flash, or is your the big big daddy that's 900+ ft.lbs torque.

I'm toying with the idea of getting it as some point. Have you had any problems with coil pack burnouts after ECU tune????

Thanks.

I think mine is the 687/800,
I can't imagine what I would do with any more torque than it already has. Traction control comes on almost every time I accelerate as it is, even when I'm not getting on it.

I have replaced the coil packs once already, but that was before the Renntech flash.

It was actually my friend Scott that was driving that run (bald guy). I was in the crowd watching.

Great info. It's amazing what that ECU flash can do. Bang for your buck it's a great buy. A few grand and you gain ~ 80 bhp and 60 ft/lbs of torque SAFELY!!!

Awesome Run!

The bold guy is who I had seen driving.
How did your brakes do? I had new pads and now it looks like I used about half of pad and rotors. The rotors did get a little blue from the heat.

Brakes held up fine. They have about 30K miles on them.
