Service B Due...Lower top speed?
So, my 2004 SL55 used to go fast....(on a closed course) it would do 275+ km/h
Now, service B is overdue by 200Km, it seems its speed governed at 255km/h...
Are the two related, or should I be looking elsewhere for the culprit?

It's my understanding that all SL55's, excluding ones with the P030 permormance package (2007 & 2008) left the factory speed limited to 250kph (155mph).
The P030 permormace package increased the limiter to approx 300kph (186mph).
Not sure why you were able to do 275kph unless it's been de-restricted by a third party at some stage.

Definitely doesn't have the P030, as it's too old and missing the suede-like (i forget the real name) interior accents.
I have a GPS radar detector, and the digital indiactor both said higher than the 255 it now does....I'll do service B and reset, then report back i guess....:/

If you were able to do 275kph, your car may have ECU tuning that removed the limiter (or raised it). Unlimited, your SL55 should do ~325kph.
When we tune cars, we make derestriction a no cost option.
I have never heard that the service reminders limit the car's top speed. So, there may be something else going on.

SL 55 and a GT 3000 vr4 Here's my car: http://home.online.no/~ludvs/index.cfm
Here in europe we also can get the ecu update from the factory when we bought the car new without the 155 limiter.
Instead it's at 186 because of tire problems when going faster.
My car had it's v-max derestricted at 186 when the previous owner bought it new in 2003.

You must have something wrong with your car.
My CL600 just had the service B done at the dealer and they forgot to reset the "service B Due." It turned to "service b is past due by xxx miles now" The car still preformed flawlessly even with the service b overdue warning.

Is there any way to tell what the limiter is set at without actually attempting to drive it at the higher speed?

So...did the service B in my shop tonight, then reset the Service B indicator. (now says A is due in 16,100km)
Did a quick blast, and..same thing....255-257...I didn't keep a close eye on the tach...but a friend suggested that it may not be shifting into the final gear, and i'm hitting the rev limiter.....I honestly didn't look, was keeping an eye on the GPS.
I'll try again and report back.
But how could the dang limiter...just come back?!?!
