Suggested MODS for 03 SL55

As Tim the tool man Taylor would say my SL55 needs MORE POWER!!!!!!

I will be ordering a Pulley kit and a tuned ECU this up coming week, anyone have more suggestions for me to get some power to the pavement

Cold air kits?? Good or over priced bunk??
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Benz-AMG-Performance-Cold-Air-intake-System-CL55-E55-SL55-S55-CLS55-ETC-/151164965087?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item23322250df&vxp=mtr
Any and all suggestions are welcome, Thanks

Headers, tune, 82 mm throttle body, larger crank pulley or smaller supercharger pulley, and belt wrap kit. If you really want some big power, go for an upgraded supercharger. Lots of good vendors on the board. Do a search.

If power is what you are really after, trade the 55 in for a SL600 or 65 and do some turbo, tune, and exhaust work. You can have 1000 hp for not a whole lot of money in the grand scheme of things.

I haven't read any real positive comments on the Weistec 55k cars. All I'm reading on the forums is how you need to run a trunk mounted water tank and methanol injection because the IAT's are way too high. When you are forced to run methanol, it means that your intercooler is too small for the task. Judging by the pictures, it looks way too small.

Tell us about your experience. It would be good to hear something positive.

Ive been using the Weistec SC for over a year now
My car is a full Weistec build car with the Kleemann parts still intact. Had them do some custom work since I was looking for more power than the standard Weistec conversion.
I have no issues whatsoever with the cooling of the car, yes I did change the intercooler a while back since my stock intercooler went bust after so many years (its an '04), changed it to the SL65 intercooler which is sold by SpeedDriven, no issues at all, car is always at a stable 75C in the winter and 95C during the summer.
I live in the Gulf so it gets pretty hot here, still no issues with the SC nor the cooling.
I did however have to go with the Weistec TCU instead of the Kleemann TCU i had, the gear would slip on the third gear at full throttle with my old setup.
Cars been running perfectly ever since, i use 103 octane though while driving, huge bump in performance feel from the standard 91 octane they did for me.
The moment you floor it, you forget everything about Kleemann and have the biggest smile on your face.
Only issue I am going through are the struts, I keep on changing them and its becoming worse and worse, either i will go for a coilover conversion if i can find any vendor who can help me, or i'll just ask www.strutmasters.com to send me their struts made for the SL55

OK, I'm a bit confused. What Kleeman parts do you have and what Weistec parts? You said you replaced the intercooler but didn't the Weistec unit come with an intercooler or do you mean you replaced the heat exchanger in the front of the car? Are you running Methanol and a trunk mounted water tank?

Without answering for SL55K, I have read his build thread so Yeah he changed the Heat exchanger for a Speeddriven unit.

Weistec SC comes with it's own integrated intercooler.

He has Kleemann Headers & Cams for sure because I asked the same question, I wanted to know i those worked with the Weistec unit he said yes.

SL55K Am I right ?

My bad guys, I meant to say the H/E kit and not the intercooler.
As to answer your question regarding the methanol and ice tank by weistec, i dont use them.

as for you DCMETRO22Z, yup youre right, headers and cams only from the Kleemann package

Just curious, what kind of power are you putting down? Also, any 1/4 mile data?
