SL55 transmission blocked in 2nd gear
Hi Everybody,
I'm a new comer from France that just received his 2002 SL55. I bought the car with an ABC problem, but what I did not expect was that the gearbox would be a problem as well.
I do not have any error message on the screen, but the car is in W mode. The stick moves without any problem in P, R, N and D, but once the car is on the move, the gearbox does not change the selection and stays in 2nd gear. I can drive up to 6'000 rpm and approx 100 km/h and nothing else will happen. Same with manual selection, nothing happens.
The car has been staying several month on a parking without moving. The engine batterie was weak but could start the engine but the second batterie in the trunk was dead and I had to replace it by a new one. I was wondering if this could have triggered a "security" mode or something electronic that would impact the transmission ?
Any clues or hints welcome.
Thanks

Nice car. Looks like the transmission is stuck in limp mode. Get the codes read. Clean the TCU could be full of oil. Take this as replacing the transmission fluid, adapter plug(important), gasket. Problem could be the conductor plate as said above make sure everything is nice and clean when putting back. Could also just be low fluid but I would just service the transmission fully. ABC shock looks bad, must be replaced. Good luck.

I did follow the instructions from the video. Very easy to do and after a visit to the Mercedes workshop to erase the codes everything works fine now !
Thanks for the hints, it helped solving my problem.
I still need to solve the problem with ABC, but as posted in another thread, I have found a solution.
