Yeah selling a car with mods can be tough, I had a friend with a 335i with 75k in miles but he put 15k in mods, but most people don't care for that. I think people care more about mileage and if it has a warranty. Like my 04 SL55 I bought 2 1/2 years ago before I swaped it to a SL65 had 41k miles and was only 34k with a warranty. But if hes lucky and finds an owner that knows the value of the mods, and is in the market for a SL55 then he might have luck.
But I'd say 30k cause of mileage, hey he might be lucky, but if he has no luck then maybe go even further to 26-27k.
I know another option is if you put the car back to stock and sell the aftermarket parts by them self he might get more of his cash back

He's a long time member here and has been trying to sell it here himself for a long time so , no offense but why are you here trying to sell it too? I could understand if it were the other way around.. If It were your car for sale and since you have very little posting history here he could help you try and sell it since he has more history.
On a side note I like his car a lot. Theres a lot to be said for one that's already modded and runs right, turn key.

I agree. a Forum is for discussing our cars, what we buy is of interest.
But selling cars is just not on. I think heavily modified cars might sell
better when advertised on a forum. People who read trade magazines
usually want a one owner low mileage and totally standard car. When
we modify our cars it's for our enjoyment, and usually de values the car.
There is a Rentech SL65 for sale in the UK and although it would be certainly
quicker than standard nobody seams to want it.
My 65 recently purchased has had the rear boxes removed, it did sound
more fruity than usual, but had I known I might not have bought it.
