So it's been a long while since I've updated this, haven't changed much as I've been distracted with other toys. But I finally got around to putting on my 6k carbon arrow style mirrors I got from "gaugetuner" off of ebay. The previous ones I had purchased and posted about on here did not work. These work great and I wired the puddle lights to the dome light so everything works nicely.
I changed my grille up a little bit and wrapped the silver pieces off the star in 4D carbon. Came out great, looks way better than before and only took 20 minutes.
I got wrap happy and started wrapping random things in the same 4D carbon. The side markers and the windshield wiper cover. Sorry the pictures don't really do justice as the car is in the garage and not sunlight.
I'm also cleaning up my wheels. I've had these RadEnergie R5's for about 5 years now and the lips clear coat has started to deteriorate so I have taken them apart and sent the lips to be re-polished. Also I'm having the wheel hardware neochromed to help pull the brake caliper color out a bit. I'll post pictures once I have everything back and reinstalled.
All packaged up for shipping:
Lastly I finally got around to installing a Dension Gateway 500 and this mod alone saved me from selling the car. I hated how this car didn't have a way of playing my music from my phone. It only took me 30 minutes to install after looking online for tips as I bought this from a member here and came with no instructions. The sound quality is perfect and recommend this option if you aren't wanting to replace the entire headunit. I wanted to maintain the factory look and controls so this fit my needs.

Loving this build man. I've got that carbon wrap in my garage just haven't gotten around to it yet. Keep it coming, ever figure out the dyno issues or get some runs in with those E's?

I haven't been back on the rollers but after I do a few more things I will be. As for running with my friends e55 and e63, the guy with the e55 flipped it and went and got a pewter sl65 before we could do any runs. I have ran him in his 65 and pulled on the street but could never get traction at the track. The 63 was the na 63 and it was never close.
Anyone with 3pc wheels ever pull them apart? If so what did you use to re-seal them?

Came home from a little weekend trip to find my wheel hardware and lips sitting on the porch. The lips look amazing compared to before with all the clear coat flaking off. I sent the lips off to "Mirror Finish Polishing" in Kearney, MO since nobody local wanted to do them. Communication was great and worked with me on the turn around time as I wanted them back quick for a meet. As for the hardware, I sent them to "NeoChromeParts" or SSR Industries as I think they were known as years ago. Communication with them was ok, I had a few emails that never got a response. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal but the guy I was emailing told me to over night the hardware so he could get my stuff in the batch he was about to do to meet my turn around time. But when I emailed asking where to send and paypal info I didn't hear back for 2 days and had to send a few emails to get the info. In the end the parts got there and back in time, were packaged perfectly and look amazing! Here's some pictures of the hardware and lips as well as one reassembled. My first time re-sealing wheels. I'll get some pics in the sunlight this weekend.

$500 for all 116 bolts.
So I got everything reassembled, tires mounted and balanced, and put back on the car. The color does exactly what I was hoping for, subtle but helps pull the color around. For my first time tearing into 3 piece wheels and re-sealing them I'm happy that they aren't leaking. I also wrapped the rears in Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S's 305/35r20. I don't like how it looks and I'm guessing do to the larger diameter I'm getting esp and abs visit workshop white notice along with a gear ratio and misfire codes. I put my back up wheels back on and rode around and everything was all good. Anyone know a work around in star so I can make these work. Yeah I know a lot you will say just get some 18's and radials but I don't want to roll around daily like that as where I live is filled with modded cars that like to play.

Don't confuse profile with height. It is related but in proportion to the width of the tire and the height of the wheel diameter. Why can you run a 30 up front and 25 out back? Probably because you are running a narrower tire up front and a wider tire in back. A 225/30/20 is very close to the rolling diameter of a 305/25/20 - only a 2.62% difference. Use this calculator if you want to get a close estimation if the tire size will work.

Yes, those sizes work but you are trying to run greater than 10% difference between front and back with a 305/35/20. You will have issues because the cars stability control system reads your fronts spinning much faster than your rears. You can run your setup in dyno mode but not with the stability control system active.

Great build, similar but yet very different than my SL65.
On your misfire issue, did you gap your plugs during install? They usually come pregapped, but to the wrong gap of .032 . I've the same issue before on my s600. Spent a ton of time figuring it out, until I gapped the plugs down to .025-.027, hasn't misfired since.
My sl65 is running original old coil packs still, with new plugs. Hasn't misfired yet at all, and I'm maxing out the turbos at the moment. 551whp on a super low reading dyno dynamics.

It misfired and fouled because it was still on original plugs and coils and the tune finished them off. Happens on almost every 65 out there that gets a tune.

Small update, I finally got my intake setup in a way I'm happy with. I've been trying different styles and this seems the most streamlined out of everything I've seen or done. Full 3" silicone from the turbo to the grille. I know you're going to ask how I got a 3" coupler to snug up to a 2.25" turbo inlet; what I did was I cut about 1.5" of a 2.25" straight coupler and put it on the turbo inlet flange and then put the 3" coupler over top of that and t-bolt clamped it down. Everything fit nice and tight and I wrapped it all in dei heat reflective tape.

Are you not running any air filters? There is nothing to attach any piping or bracket to on the other side of the air inlets to the left/right of the radiator as there are flat.

It's been a long time since I've updated this. I got Speedriven's intercooler setup in red and immediately had it all blasted and powdercoated to match the calipers continuing the Mercedes F1 team color scheme.
Here's a side by side of one of the stock coolers next to a Speedriven one.
Here's the intake just showing the color matches, Horrible pictures since it's not in the sun.
And then some installed pics, the install took maybe 1.5 hours then ran the car to a local indi Mercedes specialist to fill and bleed the coolers.
I also had Jerry at Eurocharged set up a new tune with all the mods to date since the previous tune was just the basic flash. I really want to take a second and stress how great those guys at Eurocharged are. Phil and Jerry were very quick responding to me and working with me, as I had messed some things up adding 110 leaded in the car, all literally days after Harvey had devastated Houston where the guys are based. The guys and the shop made it through the storm fine but knowing what that city was going through at that time and how quickly they worked with me to solve what to do was amazing. I'm on the beach in NC so I know hurricanes and the wrath well so to seem them open and responding to email and calls that quickly was impressive.
PS. the swirls in the paint have since been clay barred, color corrected, buffed, and ceramic coated.

Just saw that as well. Please tell me if it's fixed, everything for the entire thread is working on my screen. Stupid photobucket and it's no longer embedding nonsense.

So has any 65 or 600 guys ran killer chiller? I'm getting heat soak very quickly and still running the stock pump and wanted to see where you guys mounted the tank and if you deleted the HE.

Check out Dr. Matt on the 215 forum. He has one on his CL65. He's in Alaska so the temp difference may be easier to maintain than if you are in the south. My understanding is the killer chiller is good for a hard pull or two, but requires ample time between to get back to peak performance. It could be good if you are out for the day and want to make a hard hit here and there without having to deal with an ice tank, but I haven't seen it out perform a trunk tank with drag racing. Personally, I haven't wanted to compromise my cabin AC so I haven't explored it much.
Since we are talking about cooling, I thought I'd mention I am not a fan of the big intercoolers. They look cool, but I really think they hurt boost on stock turbos in the higher RPMs. In my opinion, it is just more restriction for the tiny turbos to force the air around before getting to the throttle body. Even if the larger intercoolers take more heat out, they do no good if you can't cool the coolant with more heat exchanger surface area. If you don't already have a supplemental heat exchange I would consider adding one or 2 if you want to hang one on the flat below the back of the car. Do you have a trunk tank? If you increase your fluid capacity it will help prolong heat soak, but at the same time take longer to recover. These cars feel so different from when its 60 degrees to when its 80, trying to maintain IATs is so huge. I'm just sharing my opinion and what has worked for me.
I gotta say your car looks awesome with the wheels and calipers along with the hardware. Good luck moving forward.

I now "BlownV8" have done this at his SL. He also have the ice tank at the trunk.
Maybe he can came in here and tell us about this a little more.

Racehorse, thanks for the compliments. I do agree with you to a certain extent on the interccolers, however I noticed a healthy power increase once they were installed even before being retuned for them. But since install I have noticed it also takes much less time for me to get heat soaked. As for my cooling mods everything is stock minus the intercoolers, that is why I asked if any 65 guys had run killerchiller before I started adding heat exchangers and different pumps.
