hey guys, after alot of google searching and little info, i decided ill just blatantly ask. upgrading the wheels on my r230 to 19x8.5 and 19x10. what would be a semi aggressive offset considering ill be running 255/30 and 285/30? do not want to stretch tires or have excessive poke, just a nice flush setup. car will be lowered on links as well. thanks!
I've run 20x9 24mm, 20x10.5 32mm and it's about as flush as it can get. With 255 front 305 rear. There's also an offset calculator above under the tools dropdown
^are you using an r230 chassis? got any pics? seems harder to get offset stuff answered here than the lotus boards lol. thanks for the reply!
your front tires are 255/35, offsets can be in the 25max to 30 range
^why max? my factory wheels on it now are 255/35 on a +35 and there is a ton of room to the fender. more so when its lowered

Yes, R230. I didn't mean to make this a shameless plug, but I might as well now Originally Posted by spartan7669

. Look at picture number six in the wheels for sale link I have In my sig.^one step ahead of you. looks good!
So you can use those wheel specs above, plus knowing the stock specs (which are printed in your manual, or at least they are in my 2008 manual) and the calculator https://mbworld.org/forums/tire_rim_calculator.php to help you figure out what's the best offset for you.

ExploreOh by the way, you also want to be very careful with how far the inside of the barrel gets to the suspension strut/control arms/body of the car. You can't go very deep in this car.
if your wheel is 35ET and you go to 30ET you are going out 5mm more, if you go to 25ET you are going out 5mm farther.
at 25ET I was too far out, I scraped the rears, so I went back to 30

^yea i understand how it all works, as ive lowered almost every single car i own, was just curious on the sl when its lowered, as i couldnt really find much info on it. thanks for the help gents.
