UK Insurance Premiums

Hi,

I need to insure the SL and was wondering what premiums any UK based owner was paying.

Thanks

Depends on where you live, how old you are, claims history, but £1200 - £1600 is typical for an old dog like me with full NCD.

JohnH,

Can you let me know the name of your contact there. You can mail me at db101uk@hotmail.com if you don't want to post the name. Sounds amazing...even 1300 sounds good.

Based on my age, if you are getting that premium you must be 3000 years old

That is cheap! for a £93000 car. Gosh. That's about what I pay for my Ferrari, limited mileage, < £50k value.

I called them for a quote - £1279, that is nearly £500 less than I got from my original broker, who is usually quite good.

Thanks for the tip JohnH, not sure where you are but if we hook up beers on me...

£1068.00 was my quote from Royal & Sun Alliance.

That covers a performance Pack as well. I spoke to the broker and the price is the same as the outgoing R230 500 SL.He said you reach a ceiling where the premium stays the same with some companies but escalates with others.

Surprising. The SL500 and 55 are both the same insurance group but over £20k different value when new. Virtually all the companies I spoke to declined to quote due to the 55 being over £80k.

You don wonder how many companies would quote for the likes of an SLR or Enzo when they're sniffy even about a '55.

The thing I forgot to mention ,which is relevant, is that on the SL 500 the policy excess was £500.00 whereas the 55 excess is raised to £1500.00

A further Policy condition is that Tracker must be fitted.

I'm 44 , full No Claims Bonus, and for £1600 AON cover my 03 Range Rover Vogue (the best car in the world. Ever!) and my wife's 03 SL55amg. I use AON because they insure my Lotus 340R , including track day cover , but I reckon they're getting me a good deal on the "everyday" cars as well.

Paul,

That's for both, which felt like a good deal to me.

I have been out for a while, did you get anywhere with AON? This quote seems unbelievable. I am paying £1350 for my SL55 alone and £950 for my S500, plus £580 for a Volvo T5....and £150 for my 1000cc bike (that was a good one) a bit younger, but not much....

I couldn't get many multi-car policies that would accept the full NCD I have on all vehicles.
