2007 SL65 Traction Control light

I have a 2007 SL65 with roughly 700 HP. That damn traction control light seems to always be flashing if I put my foot in it even at 100 MPH. Does that just mean its active or when flashing is it doing something because it thinks the tires are slipping?

Thanks.

Mine flashes up to around 100 or so as well. I have a tune and some other mods so I know I'm just spinning.

It certainly can be spinning. There are a few things that can be done. The most expensive being to replace the stock rear with a true limited slip differential for a better distribution of power to both wheels. Second on the cost list is tires. There is no room to be cheap with tires, the softer the compound the more they grab and going wider will add to the bite. You bought the wrong car to try and run generic tires on. Spend the money on a top of the line tire, they won't last, but if you are looking for a high mile tire, drive a 160 hp 4 cylinder. I have had great success with Michelin PS2s others like the Continentals. Lastly, modulate the throttle as you go into boost. Its important to know at what speeds you can go full pedal without spin. I have taken people for a ride and the first thing they say is "you didn't even spin the tires much", but the car took off harder than most have ever experienced. This takes time since outside temps have a huge impact on power and tire temp so what may seem to work today will be different tomorrow. I hope that helps, this is how I have helps get the extra power to the ground.

Even with the True Locking LSD if your tires are crappy, your gonna slip no matter what. But from my experience with this combo, it seems you can ride on the tires a little bit longer with an LSD before the tires are shot.

Best feeling though is when you have fresh tires with the LSD, you can do some pretty hard off the line and low mph rolls, and get a really hook in

The problem with traction is a great one to have. It is accentuated in cold air b/o harder rubber and denser air. I broke loose going 125mph on Michelin PS2s. Air temp was 70F.
