Top down music.

This may seem off topic ... but is related to roadster enjoyment.

I choose to post here because this forum seems to be the most active of the raodster related forums.

My question is:

What type of music do you like to listen to while driving your roadster? And do you have a specific song you would like to recommend?

There are so many categories for songs now days ... I hardly know how to describe what I like.

To use use the descriptions of other's, I guess my tastes may border on house, trance or just pop?

I intend to post several songs I do enjoy to drive to. The ones that make me yearn for the open road.

Unfortunately I have a pathetic memory for song names and or artists.

So my input will be posted only after hearing the songs we have recorded before and making notes. Which I only began today and the notes are down in the car.

The only song that comes to mind right now is by Pink (I thing) and has the words "get the party started" ... "looking flashy in my mercedes benz" ... "burnin rubber ... kissing my ***".

We are currently looking to burn a new compilation CD for the car.

Recommendations welcome.

Thanks.

There are some collections of oldies that focus on road songs that would be appropriate. (Beach Boys, "My Little Deuce Coupe," theme song from the TV series Route 66, etc.) Lyrics such as "I've got to get out of this place.." are fitting for some trips and of course Willie Nelson's, "On the Road Again" makes for a good fit. When the Dodge Stealth came out a promo video used the soundtrack with the "little darling" lyrics that had just the right beat.

I just thought I'd comment on the songs you put up in that list. Those 3 are one of my favourite songs
I have them on my CD's for my car.
Whats so funny about it is that you put "Return of the mack". That song has been one of my favourite songs since grade 10. ie 7 years ago. My buddies still make fun of me because I still like that song. ha ha
I thought I was the only one that liked that song
But I guess not!!!

REGGULLAATOORSS.. I bump that everytime I'm in the Lex.

If you have a good bassy sound system search my posts for the Thumpers cd's. I've made a lot of threads trying to find the ultimate ride/basstest songs.

The CD changer just played "ALLSTARS 2003" this afternoon. A good compellation CD we bought last summer.

There are two back to back songs:

Trippin' (It's Love) - Goldtrix presents Andrea Brown

and

You're Not Alone - ATB feat. Roberta Harrison Carter

Those tracks make me want to drive very fast every time I hear them. Unfortunately today we were stuck in bumper to bumper, stop & go traffic.

Two more very good tracks off the same CD is:

Troy (The Phoenix From The Flame) - Sinead O'Connor.

and

Oops (Oh My) - Tweet

The last one will blow the dust out of your woofer!

well, I know I can't roll as hard as you all do in your AMG SL's but I can give you a good list of songs that are good to drive to. While rap is a excellent kind of music to cruise to, I can only stand so much of it. Which is why I am including a list of mostly southern/ classic rock songs for those who enjoy real music.

FAST SONGS TO DRIVE TO:
1. Molley Hatchet- Flirtin' with disaster -southern rock
2. Steppenwolf- Magic Carpet Ride
3. White Snake- Here I go again on my own
4. Skynyrd- Gimme three steps
5. ACDC- Shook me all night long
6. Bad Company- The boys are back in town
7. Zeppelin- Rock and Roll -from the caddy commercials
8. Johnny B. Goode- Chuck Berry
9. Joe Walsh- Rocky Mountain Way
10. Neil Young- Keep on Rocking in the free world
11. Motley Crue- Kick Start my heart - a little hard, but good

SONGS TO CRUISE TO:
1. Kenny chesney- No shirt, no shoes, no problems
2. Skynyrd- whats your name
3. Jack Johnson - Wasting time -soo relaxing
4. Hendrix- The wind crys mary
5. Bad Company- Shooting Star
6. Jimmy Buffet- Margaritaville
7. Hendrix- Red House -great blues
8. Zeppelin- Over the hills and far away
9. Stones- Sweet Virginia
10. Skynyrd -sweet home alabama
11. Eagles- Hotel California (live)
12. Zeppelin- D'yer Mak'er -extremely relaxing

my reccomendation is to make 2 CDS, and label them FAST and CRUISE respectively, and play them according your mood. and if you just want to drive fast, get the trance song "Ian Van Dahl- Castles in the sky"

Thanks for reminding me of:

Joe Walsh- Rocky Mountain Way.

I don't think I've heard that song in say 20 years or more. A great song.

"Riding Along in my Automobile"

Couldn't believe no one had listed, "Riding Along in my Automobile." Not sure of its author and singer but may be Chuck Berry.

Cars and boats!
being from South FL... "trance capital of the US"... I would say anything along the lines of Paul Van Dyke, Oakenfold, Tiesto, George Acosta, and ATB is good music to jam to when the top is down!!!

Wow, what an imagination you have skippy -- "sissy boy" -- got me bad man! I'll give you some advice so next time you post, people that read it won't say "Man, that sucked, what the heck is he trying to convey? My two year-old kid uses that word when he's making fun of his little brother."...

Maybe when you're out in your sweet 93 Mustang Vert. with your top down listening to Yani's Greatest Hits, you can come up with something a bit better. Think long and hard on your plan of attack...think to yourself : "M-U-S-T....GGGEETTT....SM-A-RT-EE-RRRR." Think: "I must use my knowledge that led me to purchase my beautiful Mustang for good -- to attack those on forum boards who posses minds & cars inferior to that of mine!"

Next thing you know, you'll be putting your riding lawnmower in your signture telling us how you chromed it out to match your Rustang!

WAR THE SOUND OF MY RUSTANG IS ALL I NEED

Your turn "poopy head"...

Wow - Looks like for some people their choice of music is as touchy as their choice of religion. Criticize a man's family, politics or religion but leave his music alone?

That's right! If he's gonna talk smack, he better come up with something better then "sissy boy". Something smart, innovative, and original -- like "poopy head".

Now that's some SERIOUS smack...

Ok, ok why don't you calm down a bit. Stop flaming boy. That sissy boy comment must have really gotten to you. Why all the hostility. Are you here to talk about cars or dog on people's comments. Go get a life. Enough time wasted here.
