SL55/63/65/R230 AMG HID Ballast Failure

HID Ballast Failure

Hey all,

Man, on another thread I thought my HID bulb went out but in fact after replacement I think its the HID ballast that failed because it won't turn on. I swapped out the good light on the driver side over and it is still not working.

I saw the thread that you just have to remove the lower plastic cover and take three screw out and swap out the ballast.

I was wondering if anyone has other input on this, or a place to buy a good replacement?

Called dealer, quoted me $950USD for the part

I just found this. Anyone had good luck doing this?

Seems intense, but totally fun to do to feel you are the man when it works.

I would be nervous about changing out the little transistors myself. I am not very good with a soldering iron. I wonder if the electronic shop that would sell the transistors would also perform the work? That could save a ton.
