High (!) mileage 2008 SL65 F/S

Well,

I'm moving up north to a cold weather state and I won't be able to drive this beauty too much

I bought this exactly 2 years ago (minus 10 days) from a seller in Austin, TX. Paid $49.5k plus another $4.5k in taxes here in GA. Started it's life as the California dealer's wife car for a few months, then the "real" first owner in Austin had it until I purchased it.

Purchased with over 87,000 miles, and now it's ticked over 95,000. I bought this at a time when you couldn't touch any 07-08 version 65's for less than $60k. 07-08 has the upgraded bumpers, newer brake calipers, and the black-black interior instead of the black-gray. I also added some SLS-style 7-spoke wheels since the original wheels had significant bends on both driver side wheels.

While it has a few upgrades (USB/Aux connection, Ctek charger, lip spoiler, car cover, and the biggest being the carbon fiber interior), it definitely has it's flaws, which includes the usual rock chips, worn seats (even though I'm not a large guy and neither was the previous owner) and unfortunately a filled-in windshield crack. Short story is I got the crack during my drive home when I first picked it up 2 years ago. I had stopped for gas, when finished I let a Jeep go in front of me onto the on-ramp, and sure enough the on-ramp was covered in rocks and the big tires of the Jeep rained down with a fresh crack. You can imagine my thoughts - I had only owned the car 4 hours, and in being nice in a wave-by "go ahead", I screwed myself. Anyway, it was filled in professionally by Safelite but was not big enough to be replaced by the insurance company. I left it as is in the event I got another chip but I haven't in the 2 years I've owned the car.

Overall car runs great and there's nothing like driving around this big V12 with the top down. I'm going to miss it, but that's the choice you make when you accept a job offer in the north.

We all know how to do comps with the usual suspects (AutoTrader, Ebay, etc), so if you're truly interested in a high mileage car, feel free to shoot me a PM. No low ballers please, since I can just as easily keep this car. I have no immediate need that requires a must-sell situation.

Thanks

Car is beautiful but I don't get why you won't list the price.

I grew up in Michigan, you'll be able to drive this car 9 months of the year, most years. I wouldn't sell for that reason, IMO. Lots of car fanatics in Michigan, good people.

I expressed the same thing in a PM. Although I live in central Wisconsin, the states share a similar "great lakes" weather. I spent a bunch of years in Indianapolis, which can have a warm day almost any time of year. As far as good top down weather, it seemed limited to spring and fall. Just too damn hot and humid most of the summer months. This is not so in the great lakes states. Also, there are tons of great Sunday drive destinations in Michigan.

Good to hear that the weather isn't that bad, but I'm also going to be using this money to purchase another vehicle, so it's not all doom and gloom.

Can you imagine this car as an V12TT 4Matic? Hardtop convertible? Yes, that'd be crazy.

Hello '65 friends!

I still debate whether to keep this car or not. It's such a great car for what you get.

Regardless, the "logical" side of my brain keeps telling me that I need at least give it my "best effort" to sell the car.

New price is now $40,000 firm. Below this, I'll be taking it with me to Michigan.

If anyone is interested please let me know.

I really encourage you to take the car with you to Michigan and keep it a year to see how you like it. Put it to bed late fall with a nice trickle charger. That first spring day when you can break it out for a ride will be exciting at least it always is for me. When summer comes, you will find dozens of great locations for day trips or weekend sojourns.

It's a stunning high mileage car. Take it with you or be prepared to drop the price even further if you want to sell.
