SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Comfort is impossible.

Comfort is impossible.
If your going to lower a car, especially if you have low profile tyres it
will kill the ride quality. I have an electronic lowering device, and on the
SL63 AMG with black series body, you have to lower the back at least
2 inches, otherwise it looks stupid. The front is not so bad less than 1 inch.
Trouble is then the ride is horrible, and the only way to get a decent ride
is raise the car 1 red light. They had a new S class convertible in the
showroom... gorgeous

with the lowering module you should be able to set it so that once you start going over a speed you set (say 5mph) that ride height returns to stock and when you go below that speed it goes to whatever lowered setting you programmed. That should solve your problem.

I have tried to explain this to sound 8 before to no avail. The Programa ELM sold also by Renntech has two speed settings. The first brings the car back to 1/2 of normal ride height. The second to full ride height. My car is set to go back to normal ride height at 30 mph.

I have tried to set the height, it says return to stock height at 5 mph,
however It doesn't feel any more comfortable when it goes over 5 mph,
come to that it is still uncomfortable at 50 mph. The only time it's comfortable is if you raise it 1 red light.

I appreciate members trying to help me.
Unfortunately I have disc trouble in my spine that is getting worse
as I get older. My SL feels like it is hitting the bump stops when you go over
a bump or pot hole, even with the back lowered by 50mm there is still over
2 inches ( 50 mm ) gap between the tyre and the wheel arch, it would look
better if you lowered it another 30-40 mm but the ride would be dreadful.
I really don't know what to do.
