Ive just sold my '52 plate (1st of the rhd sl55's) and replaced it with a brand new one.
I have some observations :-
1) There are MB dealers that will pay slightly above the trade book price
2) The sun will come out soon, and that will raise the prices especially as any new stock in the system sells out
2) Theres still a good few new ones in the system, you may get a nice discount out of a dealer for a new one. Apparently MB sent a load extra ones to the UK in Dec/Jan
3) Do not buy anything earlier than an 0303, Id seriously try for a 53 plate. My 0252 was not very reliable.
4) I phoned a big selection of MB dealers to sell the car, almost all asked if it was a UK supplied car - I suspect the MB dealers try to keep non UK supplied cars lower priced ...
The new one was built in Dec 03 - the differences between it and the 02-52 plate that I have found so far (i've only done 100 miles) are
a) Firmer feeling to the steering
b) Brakes stop nicer (not as sharp when pulling up) - much easier in traffic
c) (Generally "better built" feel)
d) New exterior mirror design
e) Auto folding of exterior mirrors when locking car.
f) SBS Stop and SBS Hold (nice brake trickery makes life easier in traffic, dont have to keep feet on brake pedal etc) - which probably means theres newer better software in the brakes, explaining the nicer stopping
g) Steering wheel gear changing buttons works all the time (not just in manual mode)
h) car feels like it accelerates better - and I havent pushed it at all, its running in - I know it has a newer gearbox controller version - I saw a star-diagnosis screen saying so.
i) The W/S/M display/button has now changed logo to C/S/M
Anyway, I hope that helps !

David are you a dealer or something?
I remember you trying to drive the prices down earlier...
