Few Things to Address

We brought the car home Monday night. The weather here is still terrible but I couldn't stand it anymore. Today she gets some new shoes, Pilot Super Sports, tomorrow new brakes, oil change, and hopefully resolve a rattle at the drivers rear. This weekend some general detailing, new trunk struts, center console strut, and rear spoiler install.

But before any of that I need to resolve a water leak in the trunk. Watched a youtube video last night on how to resolve it. Looks pretty straight forward even for me!!

Thank you to everyone who has taken their time to impart their wisdom on this forum. It can be very overwhelming and scary writing the check to purchase one of these but for everyone who is on the fence it goes away quickly after running it through the gears a couple times!!

Thanks Greg. I ended up with a 2003 SL55. I couldn't pass it up. After looking nationally I found this one 2 miles down the road and it was owned by someone I know. The only thing that I wish was different is the keyless that requires the card.

I'm assuming you looked at this video. Can you describe how to move the roof a little to get access to the 2nd nut on each side?

If I remember correctly it was as simple as only opening the roof partially.

I have never tried it...can you open the trunk with the roof partially open?
I'm concerned with throwing sensors, etc...out of sync.

Or do you just loosen the bolts while trunk is "tilted" aft?

You loosen the nuts while the truck is "tilted".

I need to get back in there myself to secure the vinyl edge of the flaps.

I found it very easy to get to the bolts when the top is stowed/down. Just open the trunk and there they are.
However, my weather strip seems to be in perfect shape and well attached and I cannot find the water path (how water gets to the interface/lip).

I want to see a path before I start working on cures.

I actually prefer the keyless go that has the card vs the key version. you can actually convert to the key version pretty easily. there are several threads outlining how to do it.

I agree. And they don't make the card anymore, so if you lose it, you're SOL. So I upgraded mine a little while ago :
