(Help)SL55 Blowing white smoke and missfiring
Hey guys. My SL55 has been giving me issues the past couple days. Omw back frm the track i gave her about half throttle on the highway up to about 120mph. Then the check eng light came on. Pulled over and noticed that it was missfiring. I limped her back home and decided to look at her the next morning because it was already dark. I pulled 3 codes. Cyl 1 missfire, Cyl 2 missfire, and The random cyl missfire code. I swapped the coils for cyl 1 and 2 with cyl 3 and 4. And still said 1&2 were missfiring. Not only were they still missing but the car was now blowing clouds of white smoke out the pipes. I then took out the spark plugs on the left side and ALL 8 were horrible. There was no tip on one of the plugs in cyl 2. I will post pix. So i bought new plugs for the entire left side and replaced them. I used NGK IRIDIUMS. Starter her up and again, still missing on cyl 1&2. And still blowing clouds of white smoke. I then checked the coolant level. It was and still is normal. No oil that i can see in the reservoir either. There is also a little of the white smoke coming from the engine bay. But not much. Could be the wind blowing the exhaust under the car. Could be an exhausr leak. Idk. The clouds get more intense with more throttle. I hadnt taken it anywhere yet to have it diagnosed because i plan on purchasing a warranty and waiting the trial period, then as they say ( fake ) a breakdown. Just incase its serious. But if you guys have any insight to what may be going on without taking it in. That would be great.
Thanks.
Thanks.

given how cheap injectors are I would just go ahead and replace all of them and upgrade to the 550s. I had #8 fail and it was causing misfiring codes on #8 and the cylinder next to it, much like yours. When there is too much fuel going in it is going to create white smoke. If it is an injector if you take the surge tanks off you will likely find gas sitting in the cylinder head.
If you don't find gas and want to check the injectors without putting in new, you could move the #1 & #2 cylinder injectors over to the #5 & #6 on the other side. I had an injector fail both on my E & SL and after that tell people to upgrade to 550s just as prevent maintenance. A bad injector can cause hydrolock and destroy a motor.

Thats the 1st possible good news ive heard since ive posted. Im gonna try to upload a video of whats goin on later. But its def missing on 1&2. Im gonna try my luck and peek into the surge tank on those cylinders. And if that fails. Ill swap them over. Ill post back with results. Hell anything beats a blown motor.

the gas would only pool up in there if the intake valve is closed on the cylinder that has the broken injector. on one of my cars the gas filled up to the point where it was overflowing into the next cylinder. i was lucky it was at idle when it went and I didn't blow the motor.
