2008 SL55 value database
I have located a total of 67 VIN numbers out of the 464 SL55s produced for model year 2008. Data sources are from various on line classifieds and are a combination of asking and selling prices. Here are the results so far:
Average mileage: 54,095
Highest mileage: 137,699
Lowest mileage: 16,500
Average asking/selling price:$35,623 (does not include 2 vehicles listed as "salvage"
Highest asking price: $109,000 (Lorenser rebuild from salvage)
Lowest asking price: $17,500 (137,699 miles)
Highest number of owners: 6
Dominant exterior color:
Black-63%
Silver-(various)- 24%
White-6%
Steel Grey-4%
Red-3%
Other facts:
Almost half the cars logged so far are located in either California or Texas.
I was only able to confirm 2, 1 owner cars
The majority of the cars are being offered for sale by dealers as opposed to private sale.

I have logged 112 of the 464 SL55s produced in 2008. Here are the updated particulars:

Thanks Bill. Added you're info. You are among the top 20 in low mileage (#19) in my database. Based on the average value for this group, I'd say your car is worth closer to $40K assuming its condition is in keeping with such a low mileage car. Enjoy the Beast! Never selling mine either.

Tried to reply reply to your PM but not sure I did it right.
In any case, I simply started a spreadsheet in Excel that lists the following info: VIN# Ext color Int color Mileage Date data was collected (mo/yr) Location Asking Price/Value Comments I casually research cars for sale from various websites (Car Guru, Ebay, Auto Trader, BAT, etc.) but add only those that provide a VIN #. The comments section may contain number of owners (If stated), accident history (if any), or any other useful info that may impact value. I sort the list by mileage and plot the results (mileage vs value) which gives a pretty good indication of of market values along a trend line. To date I've captured 111 VIN numbers or 23.9% of all 2008 SL55's made for sale in NA. BTW..You'd be surprised how many cars resurface for sale over and over. When they do, I update the info associated with their VIN and resort the list. J.Chip PS: have a similar list for my 1991 560 SEC with over 200 VINs!

I didn’t see any reference to these. I assume there were a few since around 1 of 10 had this option. We’re there any? that being a $14,000 option, did you find these were generally higher then the non-option and vehicles?
