2003 SL55 AMG - Horn came on while parked
My 2003 SL55 AMG was sitting parked in my driveway and the Horns just came on and stayed on. I ran out, unlocked the car, put the key in the ignition, and turned it on. The horn then stopped. As soon as I turned it off again the horn came on again.
When the ignition was in the on position, the horn worked fine when operated from the steering wheel.
The horn didn't have anything to do with the position of the steering wheel - turning it one way or the other as have been mentioned in other posts.
I ended up pulling the connectors on each horn to stop it.
I pulled the horn relay and checked it out, it seemed to work when I connected it to a 12v supply. The horn fuse was fine.
I did have the alternator replaced about a week prior to this incident.
I really appreciate any help

somewhere I remeber that when a battery for the alarm is going out, then the horn can come on .... it's something - a box in the wheelhouse ..... I will look more into it and get back ... could also be a wild goose chase from my side

hmmm ... sorry for that - I'm out of town but when I get home I can do some search on my repair CDROM .... if you haven't figured out before that ...

No worries as I will work on it as time allows. Regarding your website, it turns out I am a pretty good PATHFINDER... LOL!
I think you are correct about which car a Viking would drive. The first time I drove my SL55 (without knowing all the history) my immediate interpretation was "Sledgehammer". Only to find out latter thru research that the car is referred to as the "Hammer".
BTW: About 5 years ago, I was very fortunate to have toured the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo. Absolutely amazing.
