Absolute BS!!!!

Just went to browse the Fletcher Jones Website to check out the resale value of S500's. I looked for S-Classes, and then I stumbled upon this 2003 USED(STARMARK CERTIFIED) SL55 with a few options for $242,990!!! Have they lost their mind? Not only that, but there was a 2001 S500 for almost $85K. There was also a 2004 S55 for $139K, and a 2003 S55 for $149K, which to me, doesn't make any sense. I can't believe that Fletcher Jones is one of the top Benz dealers!!! Do they think they can fool people with Supply/Demand BS? I hate to think how much they will over charge people on the 65's!!! I highly discourage purchasing a vehicle from these people!!! I can understand a $10K premium, heck even a $20K, but $100K+ Premium....that's BS!!! I'm glad my dad got his SL55 for a good deal.

Here's a link....[url]SL55 for almost $250K

You can understand the BS if you go there... it's the most uppity MB dealership I have ever been too.... It's so busy that you have to park across the street. I've bought a few parts there, the parts guys are nice. There is a Starbucks INSIDE the service waiting room as well as a salon where women get manicures and have their nails done.

Pretty funny..

A bucket on wheels
maybe its a typo and they meant to write 142 thousand? could that be? I ma in denial that any dealership will be dumb enough to mark up a car by 100k.

I also think its a typo, but thats not my point. It states that it has "AMG 5.5 Liter Twin Spark 24-Valve Aluminum". I thought only the V12's had twinspark. I have never heard anyone say it was twinspark. Do you replace 16 spark plugs when you replace your SP's? You learn something new everyday!

It might be a typo on that vehicle, but I don't think that the whole inventory can be a huge typo. Does it make sense that a 2001 S500 is sale for $85K? I also find it stupid that an '04 S55 is $139, for that price I can have a new '04 SL 55 or CL 55, with Designo and Parktronic, Keyless Go, Electronic Trunk and Voice Controlled Phone. Not only that but an '03 S55 is $149K. There is definitely something wrong with the dealership.....

Method in the madness

I once asked a dealer why they had such huge markups posted on their vehicles when it was clear they had no expectation of anyone paying them. His answer was that this was their way of being able to give people huge offers on their trade-ins and thus making it easier to make sales.

All V8 M113 engines are indeed twin spark. 16 plugs.

2003 SL55
Not a typo...Fletcher Jones is located in the middle of Newport Beach Ca. An area filled with big dollar residences. I almost had to sue them and report them to the DMV because I had ordered an SL55 for sticker. The car was suppose to arive in 6 months. Come to find out they sold MY car for $50,000.00 over sticker to some guy who didnt want to wait! They eventually (within weeks) got me a diffrent car and sold it to me at a small discount to make me happy. I took it even though it didnt have the color interior I wanted. I am glad i did....I love the car!

Wow...that's expensive for an Used car.

My brother is looking for 2004 S500 base model @MSRP $84.4K. The dealer offer him $79.5K. What do you guys think...I'm thinking $6500 off MSRP will be good.

How much to pay for Ext. Warranty is good deal ?

Any advise welcome and which dealer is willing to deal...thanks.

That car has been posted on their internet site since the SL55s first came out. Personally, I have had great success with FJM and sent over a dozen friends there who have also been happy. Gotta find the right mix (I have a great salesman and a great service advisor). It works for me.

Hey there SLK_55 AMG,
Sorry for the late reply....I just read your post. I don't drive as yet, as I'm only 14. My dad has an LX470, and before he bought it, he thorougly looked at the Range Rover and X5, but the LX won hands down!! Lexus vehicles are not based on performance, but rather Luxury and Comfort. I'm also a Porsche and Audi fan. Lexus is planning on making a GS that competes witht the E55, and an LS that will compete witht he S65/55. So hopefully, their market will change. When I do drive, however, I'll probably get an IS300.
