SL55 Rotors

Hello,

I am looking to change my rotors on my 2008 SL55, and I've located these.

https://www.partsgeek.com/9pbg1bx-me...ake-rotor.html

Has anyone purchased parts here previously, had experience, and can tell me the size of the rotors when it's part of the 030 package?

My car has some unique features, but it doesn't completely align with all I'm finding. I have SL65 wheels, 2pc rotors, and I haven't gone to the dealer with my VIN number yet, I like to do a little homework prior to...

Thanks Bill

Not sure about 'size', for the 030 option, but I have had a lot of good experience with Zimmerman rotors, and BAD experience with Centric rotors (warping).

SL55 brakes

Bill,
There are numerous places that you can source OEM or Brembo replacement discs for your SL55 at much less than dealer prices. However, when I need to replace my brakes, I would buy from FCP Euro. Check their site. They have a package that provides both front Brembo rotors, pads, and sensors for a little over $1200. The Brembo compound disc rotors are exact replacements for your car and mine. Just make sure you specify non 030 to get the right size. The reason I am recommending FCP Euro is because they have a unique lifetime guarantee on everything they sell. When your pads and rotors wear out, they will actually replace them for free!! I believe the correct part number for the rotors is 219-421-02-12 but I would call them directly to make sure. Good luck. J.Chip

Kyle is correct,

*(360x36) comes with code: "-030":-

MB#: "219 421 02 12"

Brembo#: "09.9764.23"

*(380x34) comes with code: "P030":-

MB#: "230 421 09 12"

Brembo#: "09.A187.13"

Thanks J Chip, I'll check out the site. Do you have thoughts on ceramic pads vs non?

Thanks Kyle, I've actually been pointed to your site for parts by J Chip, and the small increase delta $, with the warranty and shipping makes it a good deal to me.

I'm not sure what the guy recommending $1200 for front rotors, pads, etc.

I've bought OEM rotors for +-$100 each. This car's brakes are inexpensive.

The OEM $ for the front rotors is $1050 ea, as they are Brembo Floaters, the $1200 he mentioned was $466 ea, plus OEM pads delivered.

I did buy them. I have them, but with EBC redstuff pads. I prefer them over OEM pads, less dust.

My 2008 SL55 AMG has the more expensive brakes than older years SL55 AMG's, not the P030 package, but the 6-piston calipers, not the 4 or 8 piston SL65. The car came with 510HP, now it's updated to with an R2 Renntech with headers.

Thanks for the feedback.

^+1^,

Sl55 with 8-pot calipers, uses very cheap 1-piece Rotors,

Rotor #: "221 421 18 12", (360x36)

SL55 Rotors-366112_x800.jpg

but 6-pot calipers, comes with expensive 2-piece Rotors,

and with (3) options, depends of spec.:-

* code: "-030", Rotor #: "219 421 02 12", (360x36)

SL55 Rotors-2194210212-m22.jpg

* code: "P030" Rotor #: "230 421 09 12",, (380x34)

SL55 Rotors-2304210912-oe.jpg

* code: "P030/P98" Rotor #: "230 421 12 12",, (390x36)

Aside from the performance loss, is there any reason why 07-08 sl55 owners with the standard 360mm front rotors can't use the solid 360mm rotors used on 03-06 models in place of the two-piece?

I think solid Rotors from 03-06 "E55/Sl55", can be fit perfectly to 07-08 "E63/Sl55",,

cause both sharing the same Rotor hat height & inner/outer dia. as well..!!
